R60 Real World Fuel Consumption / MPG

My combined city/highway average for the first 800 miles is 22.7. I have the All4 Manual Transmission. Also, since still under the 1,200 mile break in I am taking it easy. My lifetime 59,678 mile average on my traded 2007 S was 31.3.
I sure hope I can look forward to doing better within the next 1,600 miles.

Are you guys reading mileage off trip computer display or calculating?
If not calculating it--from gas pump gallons and trip meter miles, try it. You may find real mileage differs yet. And I have yet to find someone whose car ever calculated MPG pessimistically compared to actual MPG, but many who get a false sense of better MPG from believing the MPG display. Happens some on my MCS. Happens on my Toyota, and my old Chrysler, and my old Ford, and my old... And, each of my Audi's before recalibrating--which Audi allows you to do in the coding. Prior errors I have seen are 7-almost 20%. Mini seems about 10% optimistic for me from the couple of times I have manually checked the calculation.

My first 3 tanks have run ~ 25.5 MPG. The onboard computer has been remarkably similar and consistent with the actual calculated. This is combined highway/town with a 70/30 split. I've been using the realtime MPG read to try and lighten up my foot whenever possible. Cold early morning startups are pretty sluggish and it takes a while to overcome the inertia and maintain some gas saving momentum.

I'll be buying a CM soon for my bride and was wondering the same. Sounds like the engine takes a bit of time to warm up. Does the onboard computer give you the GPH readout? Was wondering how much gas it burns idling while warming up in the morning.
In my daily driver which is a modified F-250 diesel, I let her warm up to at least 160 degrees EOT & ECT before I move her on a cold morning and I'm burning about 1GPH from a dead cold startup warming up down to about .70GPH
Another thing about fuel milage, I calculate mine (for the truck) over the course of the year. I log all the fillups and get receipts. Been doing it for years and believe it is your most accurate assessment.
Cheers~

Countryman Cooper S ALL4 Auto
With 900 miles under my belt, my Countryman is averaging 23mpg in city driving & 31mpg. in the country.
As I am in the UK I have corrected my actual mpg of 28 & 37 respectively to US gallons.
This is with a light running in touch. I hope it improves as the miles mount up.

Great to see that the real world MPG is not too far away from official MPG ratings. For those who record all the fill ups, do you guys use www.mymilemarker.com? I find it really convenient.

I'm about 10 mi. from 5,000. Average MPG 26.7. This is from OBC but also calculated it and it is about the same.
UUG I complained to my MA who suggested filling the tires over recommened psi by 2-less resisitance better fuel consumption.
Good lord my 07MCS was getting close to 38mpg. Could the weight really be that much more to make MPG so low?
BTW most of my driving is highway (44 mi. RT each weekday)

For the average driver that may be ok. But if you live near the freeway and jump on the accelerator to do highway speed only minutes after a cold start up I'm just saying that that isn't so good.
Maybe if you are leasing your car or intend on trading it in 3-4 years that's ok but I look out for long term ownership and maintain my fleet myself accordingly.
Just sayin.
