Show me your roof racks (and some crazy loading)...)

Hey guys,

Just got a mont blanc roof rack, thing seems decently built for cheap. Anyone else have one? Purchased used and the dude lost the "keys"... Hoping to get some from Mont Blanc...

Anyway, I'm always that guy who takes "crazy" stuff on their car, motorcycle, etc... Looking forward to having the bikes on top, then the kayak... then the kayaks... and who knows from there...

One weekend I took a camping trip with bicycle and all on the back of my honda vfr sport bike... lol...

Anyway, post up your roof rack and if you have photos of what you've hauled. Could be enjoyable

It's painted with plasti dip but I have since removed them. Vendors sell vinyl ones as well plastic covers that go over them.

Nice! I paid $120 shipped for my mont blanc rack... also craigslist.

You can get them here: http://www.prolineracks.com/mont-bla...oper-rack.html

For 250 out the door... I am very happy with mine.

Since my rack was used, I took the rack clamps that attach to the rain gutters and rubberized them with undercoating. They look great and I imagine will hold up excellent to rust or oxidation.

Great pics guys!

Evasive, love your car. How hard was the extra 2 light install on the front? I'm considering similar...

I wouldn't call this crazy but this is our Christmas tree (artificial of course) in it's new box on the factory roof rack:

20111218_002[r]-MINI_JCW_ChristmasTree by walk0080, on Flickr

It was fun driving home. We had a lot of funny looks. I mean I wasn't hauling a sofa or anything.

I got my rack for $120 used and I expect to make more use of it later this year.

EDIT: Apologies if you only wanted 1st Gen pics

That is one smart looking MINI. Do you have close-up pics of the rack and lighting setup?

Really like the extra load capacity of the factory roof rack of 75Kg or 165lbs.

Good deal!

I'm very happy with my mont blanc rack... the thing locks on tight. For the money I can't beat it and it helps satisfy my mind that I don't have to drill holes in the roof.

Here's mine. I fabbed my own rail and brackets that mount to the factory mini crossbars to hold my nearly 8 foot long cruiser!

Anyone have experience with a kayak and a Mini Convertible? I have an 02 Coupe and want to move to a new convertible, but don't know what to do with the kayak.

Do the windows ever hit the mounting points for your rack when opening/closing your doors? Or does the "window dance" clear them?
