2011 Mini Cooper S W/ 205/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires

Hi Gang,

I have been real busy this last week.
Been researching MCS (Mini Cooper S) with auto 6-Sp. transmissions.
Made the choice from where a Buddy of mine use to work he was nice enough to make a call to that Dealership to the Owner & Floor Manager.
In a few minutes I received a call and then dropped by to meet them.
We went over a few things and I left in the 2011 MCS(British Racing Green) with 6-Sp. Auto Tranny.
It was a loaded up model and purchased from Mini of Nashville.
Just traded in and it was a 1-owner Male Adult Non-Smoker.
Not a perfect ride but still pretty darn nice.
Nice enough we ended up purchasing it the next day.
I took it home to show Cathy and let her drive it at night to see what she thought.
Some of you might recall Cathy has wanted one of these for the past 3-4 yrs.
So I thought to myself, if that is what the wife really wants let me see if I can pull this off for her.
She drove the MCS to Columbia, TN. on the interstate and then we came back on the 2-lane roads.
That way it gave her an overall picture of how it would be in different road conditions.
She was Fired-Up and said I want it !!!

So made the deal, left the check, drove to Discount Tire & ordered a new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires.
Then drove to the Mini of Nashville dealer and introduced myself to the Service Dept.
Super nice Service Advisor.
I told him I wanted all three (3) windshield wipers replaced.
He said No-Worries I will do that right here in the Service-Lane for you.
He did that and then proceeded to tell me he did it under Warranty for me, No-Cost to me.

Saturday I had an appointment at 9am with Paul one of my contacts at Discount Tire.
Drove over and he jumped on the MCS and installed the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires for me.
Nice fellow and has been in the business for plus 13-years.
He does not fool around but does make sure everything is (right).

I did do the detail thing after I got it home from Discount Tire.
Put a coat of the NXT 2.0 sealer on it.
Finished about 5pm Sunday evening.
I am pretty darn thorough.
It turned out pretty good IMO.

Here are the Pics. I took of it

Great looking ride!! I have a 2012 with the same tires in 215 width and totally love them. The rate they are wearing down is pretty scary, but the ride and handling are superb. They blow away the runflats they replaced. Enjoy!!

I am wondering how the Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires behave in tight quick cornering, do you feel the wheel pull inward while the tire maintains contact with the road? The reason why I ask is because of the reduced thinner sidewall of the tire, don't want this flexing from side to side through multiple S-turns. It's as if you were to push and pull the car parked from side to side causing the wheel to move without the tire moving in comparison to run flats.

I hope I'm making sense here.

The ride and Super-Low-Noise level with these is great
The run-flats are terrible IMHO.

You are making sense and I am pretty sure I am following you.
I do drive the MCS a lot but have not gotten out on two lane roads and just ran the crap out of it in turns.

Even though that is the case I still think I might be able to sort-of comment.

If you run the 38 psi in the tires as is requested the tires are (Not) {Wallowing} around back & forth on the wheels.
I think that is really what you are asking.
Your correct the (Sidewalls) on the Michelin's is no where near as stiff as the Run-Flats.
As we all know that is why the more subtle ride quality of the Michelin's versus Run-Flats.
But once again I have not noticed the tires moving side to Side on the wheels at all.
But as I said once again I have not gotten out there and and ran through corners way over the posted speed limit.
Nor have I ran through any SCCA events.

Compared to the Run-Flats that were under the MCS the Micheline tires are IMO a 110% improvement in all respects as I drive.

Perhaps some other members on here might join in on what you are asking if they are running the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

When these wear out I will replace with same tires.

Great color, great looking car, great tires... Only thing (because I'm cynical and always find negatives lol) is Discount tire.... Looks like a clean shop and nice guys! But A: Hand torquing wheels isn't special, it's required and every single shop that touches wheels is supposed to be doing it. And B: Is that 4 jacks alone??? Really? Just 4 hydraulic jacks with NO jack stands at all keeping your car from falling to the floor and either damaging it or hurting someone. I guess it's spending my entire adult life in the automotive industry speaking here, but that's like garage employee 101, car does NOT get supported by jacks, it get's lifted with jacks and supported on stands. Every time, no exception. That little tid bit just irks me to see lol.

I read you.

But in my case I have zero issue with my local Discount Tire Store.
I have done a lot of Business with them with zero issues.
They are like only 15-minutes from where I am sitting at this computer.

And in my case I worked for the Parts & Service Directors in dealerships for like 18 years before retiring.
So I know how most car dealerships work.

As far as me showing the picture of Paul actually hand torquing the wheels that was for the benefit of a member on another Internet Site.
That member always made it a big deal to always ask ???
Did they hand torque your wheels ???

So I got tired of just saying yes they do and started taking a picture of them actually doing it.
