Rear Seat Delete HELP!!!

Ok, I need some help. We are taking out the rear seats. Don't use them anyway, but what I want to know is has anyone put carpet down, and if so, what color, and where did you get it from. I have seen the rear seat delete kit plastic thingie, but I want something a little better looking I guess. We are planning on putting in more stereo equipment there but still want some kind of storage. My husband thought of making a template of cardboard and cutting it out of plywood to cover so it would be strong enough to hold the sub, but still be able to have a storage compartment underneath/amp space... Anyone do something like this, or can help me out on this CRAZY project. But I want to cover the bottom of the car with some kind of carpet. and then of course whatever I plan on making the cover out of with I also want to cover with carpet as well. I just wanted to know what to make it out of and where to get the carpet. Does this make any sense?

i have.. using black for carpet. and have done in 1/2" plywood and 1/8" peg board. The 1/8" if for when i go racing so i can have same look but be lighter. The amp and all is under the back section. which the subs sit on top which can be with either the 1/2 or the 1/8. I put in the 1/2 for General haulling of Tires, tool boxes and other heavier stuff. Also ive take a nap back there with the passager seat folded forward and a fold out mat that i have its real comfortable. Its a sunny day.. ill go on out and take some shots and see if i can post them here for you.

There was quite a deep discussion on this about 4-6 months ago...one guy ended up marketing a kit, while some others made their own. They all looked good. You might go thru "search" and check it out.

Yes, your seat delete and Tony's both were discussed in that long thread. I was going to buy a kit, but then opted to keep my seats and just put in a rear mat, instead, as I sometimes DO use the rear seats.

mine has been installed now for two years as well. it is an original peice. designed by myself and is constructed of 1/4" and 1/2" plywood. covered in black carpet, it is super lightweight and affords ample storage for the drycell and stereo amp under the panel.

I would like to find some original type black carpet. I bought the kit BUT it is super loud back there and I don't like the look of the plastic. The carpet should help keep it quiet.

Thanks for all the ideas. there is just so much great information out here. Now just to figure out what to do I am no where near able to do all this stuff. I am a crafter. I mean arts and crafts... So it may be that I make something really CRAZY and it may work well.. But Idears are great. Thanks. I will search for the previous threads.

I did not put down any plywood or anything hard. I just molded carpet to the floorboards. It looks great but I don't use it for storage so I wouldn't know how well it would hold up to putting thing back there.
