Let's see your eyes!

Post pictures of your Mini's eyes (I searched and couldn't find a thread like this, but sorry if there is already one out there.)

My husband and I just installed ours. They are the Union Jack Cooper Contacts from MINIswag and I think they look really neat I would love to see others

Here are Gromit's eyes. We got the Blank Cooper Contacts then went to an art supply store and bought a couple of different colors of paint and mixed them until it matched the Hot Orange.

I also have a set of the red/orange Dragon Eyes from Tuls and Stoopidgirl that I plan on using if these wear out(or just to change in a few months for a new look).

Yes Tuls! Those are very nice.

Mishka, how exactly did you paint the rest of it? That is the missing link....I love that look, but did you have to paint the actual plastic cover?

Stoopidgirl/Tuls....I think Mishka has the idea!

I bought a set of blank Cooper Contacts. The eye lid portion is white(plain) on these. I bought some acrylic paints for ceramics/terra cotta/concrete that would adhere to vinyl. (For Hot Orange I mixed copper and 'Georgia Clay' colors until they matched the car. In my case I had a set of body color mirror caps I was getting ready to put on the car and used the inside of the cap as a test area until the paint matched.)

Once I had the right color, I used a small paint brush to paint the decal. It took several coats to get the coverage right. After the paint dried, I sprayed the decals with a gloss coat to help seal/protect them then applied them to the car.

I went with the blank contacts because I wasn't sure if their Hot Orange was a close match to the actual color.

As I posted earlier, I also have a set of Tuls Dragon Eyes and they are awesome. I just haven't put them on because I had just installed the Cooper Contacts about a month before. I'll eventually change them.

I wish I had that kind of talent! They are more of the creative genius of Stoopidgirl and Tuls. Got them at the Dragon in May. The lightning in the eyes is a perfect Electric Blue!

OK, I have a stupid question:
Can you use the lights with the eyes/contacts on them? Or do you have to take them off for night driving.

The eyes/contacts don't go on the headlights, they are placed on the blank space behind the headlights. This means you only see them when the bonnet is open.

The decals go under the bonnet on the recess made for the hedlights. NOT on the outside of the car.

Oh those two are super duper talented! Yeah, those eyes are really cool, I love the color!

I'd like to do my own and have a ton of paint but what works with the vinyl?
