Can it be evil instead of cute?

For spirited driving on dry pavement, try running them at 36-38. You can differentiate between front and rear to try to fine tune a neutral steer.

Do you both mean 36F & 38R ?
About lowering....this will be my daily driver (25,000+ miles per year, almost all highway at high speed, if you look at my pics, you'll see the Porsche in the garage). The Mini looks very rally-like right now (high wheel-well clearance) and it would be nice to lower it, but I don't want to do radical springs and shocks. Someone told me H-Sport (?) has/will have springs that will only do about 1" ? Maybe those will ride stock-comfortable and won't necessitate new shocks?

More black out
Black out everywhere, lights, beltline. Put darker film (but legal) on your headlights. Lower it one inch, ride should stay about the same if you use a good set of lowering springs, H&R are rated very good. This will give you the evil look, but why? If you were going for the stealth look with subtle power, then...
Not sure what tires your running, the orig. Dunlops runflats are harsh. If you put on an excellent summer performance runflat you will enjoy your 25K++ yearly commute miles a lot more. I currently only have 900 miles on my R56 and I'm thinking the RFs have to go.

Also, on lowering, I wouldn't go much lower than 1/2" to 3/4". As you go lower than that, the front control arms start to go into a bad angle. Also, the Mini has very little suspension travel, so if you start to lower, be ready to loose some fillings when you hit big bumps, and the mushroomed strut towers won't be far away. If you're going for a track car, then much stiffer springs can make the suspension travel issue go away, but the control arm geometry is what it is. Less a sawzall and welder, that is.
