Coming over from Evo land
Hi Everyone,
I'm currently building a MCS on the miniusa website to replace my weekend canyon bomber, which is becoming dedicated track car. The Evo is still great fun and is probably the best back road I've ever owned. Unfortunately a 400 hp, 275 r-compound running, moton equipped car has a tendency to goat you into speeds that go from fun to dangerous without much drama. So in interest of self preservation and not wanting to endanger others I'm hopping over to something that I'd be hard pressed to get much over 200 hp out of. After taking my mom’s 07 MCS for what turned out to be a two hour beer run during family BBQ, I figured it was the best car for the job. So after years of ragging on mini owners for being full of themselves, I'm becoming one.
Since it won't be my daily driver, I'll probably end up modifying it to the point of stupidity. So I'll be asking you guys a lot of questions that my require me to get flamed.
This what I've got so far:
paint
Pepper White Body Color $0
Body Color Roof/Mirrors $0
White Turn Signals $100
package
No selections in this category
performance
Front Fog Lamps STD
Xenon Headlamps w/Power Wash $550
Limited Slip Differential $500
6-Speed Getrag Manual STD
16" S-Winders (Performance) STD
cockpit
Sport Seats STD
On-Board Computer STD
Leatherette: Black/Grey STD
Interior Surface Checkered STD
10-Speaker. Hi-Fi Sound System $550
3-Spoke Leather Steering Wheel STD
TOTAL MSRP AS CONFIGURED*$23,550
accessory**
JCW Aero Kit (installation not incl.) $1,595
Sport Stripes - black (installation not incl.) $85
Roof Stripes - black (installation not incl.) $85
Black Rubber Floor Mat (front) (installation not incl.) $55
Black Rubber Floor Mat (back) (installation not incl.) $30
Black Rubber Floor Mat (boot) (installation not incl.) $54
JCW Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps (installation not incl.) $290
JCW Carbon Fiber Bonnet Scoop (installation not incl.) $299
JCW Carbon Fiber Rear Door Handle (installation not incl.) $190
Bumper Protection (installation not incl.) $43
The car is pretty spartan because a lot of the OEM pieces are going to be hitting the thrash can in favor aftermarket ones. If any of you feel the need to heckle me for being a ricer, I'll be posting my plans for the mini in 2nd gen forums and your opinions are welcome.
thanks

As an STi owner let me be the first to say "Welcome!"
(400 hp- is that all? Okay, my ragging is out of the way now)
Yeah, I too will have to be careful not to mod the daylights out of the Mini. It's going to be our daily commuter and runabout car, so it MUST remain extreeemely streetable... It won't be easy- there's so many goodies for them!
Anyway, sounds like you'll have a lot of fun with the car...
Glad to have you aboard,
Russ R

Hi,
i have had both Subaru ( GC 8 turbo ) and EVO 6 with + 350 HP , both I think are a different sort of cars then the Mini. They have the performance and for sure the handling ,but i think the mini perhaps less extreme but good looks , options and nice to drive.
You say you have Moton. That is good ! i have a clubsport set on my bmw 325 i which i use for the track and it is very good quality. It comes from holland so it is very easy to get advice from them, the service is very good .
Will you also do moton on the mini ?
Have fun with your new ride !
Bye chris

I'm still keeping the Evo, but it's just going to be for track days. My A4 Avant daily beater is just slow enough to keep speeding tickets at bay. So I have no need to use something thats fun enough to make me want to drive fast.
