More detail on the manufacturing process:
WOW! I am not the proud father of a happy, healthy VIN number. My car has moved from being "on order" to being "Scheduled for production." According to the FAQ over on MINI2, "Scheduled for production" actually means that production has began. Here is the codes and what each of them means:
037 Order is at BMW NA [ON ORDER]
087 Production Week Assigned
097 Order sent to factory
111 Order Accepted at factory
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started [SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION]
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
182 Released to Carrier [AWAITING TRANSPORTATION]
193 Arrived at Port of Exit [RECEIVED AT TERMINAL]
194 Selected for Shipment [LOADED ON VESSEL]
195 Shipped from Port of Exit [EN ROUTE]
196 Shipment Arrival [DISCHARGED]
Keep in mind, this FAQ doesn't appear to have been updated since I ordered my 04, but I doubt that much has changed. Here is my timeline from last time, to give you some sort of idea of how long everything takes:
15.OCT - 037 Order is at BMW NA [ON ORDER]
24.OCT - 111 Order Accepted at factory
27.OCT - 150 Production Started [SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION]
Sorry for the LONG post, but I hope that it helps!

30.Dec Delivery
I am told that my Estimated Production Date is November 3rd, and that is looking to be pretty accurate based on my experiences last time. As you can see, there is a couple of really big delays near the end, between RECIEVED AT TERMINAL and LOADED ON VESSEL, and again between EN ROUTE and DISCHARGED. There are some fun things to do with the latter delay, though.
So Far, these are the dates that I have:
15.OCT - 037 Order is at BMW NA [ON ORDER]
24.OCT - 111 Order Accepted at factory
27.OCT - 150 Production Started [SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION]
Sorry for the LONG post, but I hope that it helps!

this round makes me wk 45.
I ordered mine last Thurs, in production Friday-to be complete 11/1. So since I am in CO....3-4 weeks for ship ride-1-2 days in VDC and week to get to Denver...estimated guess...week of December 10th.
I originally ordered early september...car compleed production quickly but sat on dock in Southampton(actually still there) since 9/28. Found out last week it was damaged and apparently there is a repair shop on the dock.
My MA promised quick re-order and so far it has been.
Hoping to catch the next ship(11/5/07)-all west coast ships leave on Monday.
This is bad I know way too much about this tracking business
Here's to an early delivery for all!!!!

You are gonna think I'm nuts........
My MINI contacted me through a dream last night to let me know it was going into production this week---- And when I got home this afternoon, there is an e-mail from my MA that my MINI is scheduled for production this week!!!! Tooo weird. I'm not complaining though, they're building her!

Woohoo just called ASKMINI and got confirmed week 45, ordered last week Friday. They said production should be finished by the end of this week on my mini and road testing should begin. I have never had this kind of anxious waiting for a car before, little weird, must be because the mini was do damn fun to drive DS/B Sport package, LSD, and black interior. Man my mini seems naked compared to you other members, looks like I better start ordering some aftermarket stuff..

at work
We were discussing at work today how it would be super sweet to see your car built. Also to have the opportunity to install a few items you wanted before they finished it like new speakers, wiring and dynamat all before the factory installed the interior....we engineers live in a dream world

Yep!!! it shocked me to after seeing on here how people had to wait atleast 2 months and sometimes 3....but that was the old days. Now MINI is fast
Also i am on the east coast so youd have to add a week extra on the boat for west coast

Still no VIN number. I checked with ASKMINI again. They said that mine was still for production week 45 but no production date had been set yet. They told me to check back at the end of this week. I sure was hoping that my week 45 car would be produced early like the rest of this cars for this week. Oh well......the waiting pain continues.

I was able to change color on Monday .. went to Laser Blue all around .. MA said no problem as long as she's not in production and it has no impact on start date.
Picking out the color was the hardest part ... I love the '06 and '05 blues ... It got to the point that my wife said, "don't ask me about color again".

Color drove me crazy too
I understand the color debacle. I went from BRG to Blue to pepper white and back to BRG... The blue with the white roof would have been my first choice but not with black leather in texas. Too hot, I tried that in my 2002 rsx...
Same here. I just called ASK-MINI and they said that it's a week 45 build, should be done by Thursday, Nov 8. No VIN yet, apparently it's generated when production starts. Online site says "on order". I hope she arrives before the snow flies.

Hi Folks, I'm in Week 45 as well, having placed the order on Oct. 16. The Owner's Lounge says "on order" but my MA said Nov. 5 for a production start. Here's the order:
'07 PW/PW MCS
Cold wx package
Premium package
Sport package w/ web spokes
White turn sigs
Rear fogs
LSD
Armrest
Anthracite headliner
Alarm system
Sound system upgrade
Brushed alloy interior
JCW tuning kit
JCW suspension
JCW aero kit
JCW strut brace
Driving lights
I-Pod integration
Painted arches/moldings w/Armor Glove
Dealer freebies: carpets, mirror caps (all 3)
Dealer is MINI of Fairfield ... MA is Mark Smith. He's been absolutely awesome. NAM has been an invaluable resource, absolutely invaluable.
Should be a real sweetie of a car. I hope that she gets here before we have to put away our '75 Triumph TR6 for the winter. We took the Triumph (Luna) out on a local MINI run last weekend .. 20+ MINIs and the TR6 taking up the rear. What a blast!

Excellent!
We drove from NW CT to Bennington, VT on Sunday in our '75 TR6. What a great fall roadtrip. Maybe we can get some MINI motoring in together in the not too distant future. I love the roads of western New England and we're out every weekend.
We ski Killington and Stowe throughout the winter, too.
