What's the name of the shipping company other than Wallenius that Mini uses? And do they also allow you to track by VIN?
The name of the company is K-Line. I'm on a K-line ship that left Nov 23 and get to Charleston on Dec 6th.

No they don't track by VIN. Your MA should be able to give you info. That's how I found out when my ship left.

Ah, yes, that must be the same boat I am on. My MA said my MCS was due into Charleston on the 6th as well. So you don't know the name of the boat, eh?
I'm also wondering how long it will take to get from point of entry to San Antonio.

Yes that's it. The Caribbean Highway. My MA said I should have mine by Dec 12th so I'd think yours would be a few days after that. (I live in Orlando, however I grew up in Austin!.)

Anyway good to know someone else on the ship. FYI here is a pic of our ship.

So I noticed that the WW site shows that the ship has left the port in Panama. Did anyone manage to catch the ship on the webcam?

I had a program collect a bunch of snapshots from the camera feed. But I haven't seen anything that looked like the ship. Several Maersk Sealand container ships went by, but I think the car carrying ships look different.

Any thoughts? At least it is nice to be one stop closer. Next stop...port hueneme and (for my car) disembarkation.

Thanks for the great picture of the "Caribbean Highway". I've been looking for a picture for many days now. Our Mini will be delivered to Charleston on the 6th of December, hopefully without any dings/dents. LOOK OUT FOR ICE BERGS!!!
Dark silver metallic, blk roof, blk leather seats, & every option available.

Caribbean Highway continued (hit the wrong button)Gross tonnage=42238, built 2002, last ship safety construction certificate was Aug 2007 & is good for 5 years. Looks like it should make it all the way to Charleston without any problems. here is a website for this info...

These big ships only travel at 17 knots an hour...maybe it won't make it on time? 1 knot = 1.15 mph..hmmmmm & I thought I was slow....hmmmm

I ordered my MCS from San Antonio! It just arrived in port a couple of days ago so they might get to the dealership around the same time. Right now I am in Florida and will not be back to pick up my car until the 21st so if you see a Dark Silver/Black MCS say hi to it for me...

I will indeed say hi to your baby if I see it when I pick up mine. I'm curious, did you opt for a sunroof? I heard lots of warnings about doing so in the Texas heat because of the poor sun blocking of the screen, but I got it anyway because of the great feeling of openess that it offers.

Yay! The Maersk Wind is now in the Gulf of Panama! About another week or so and it'll be in port, then a few days at the VDC, then to the dealer! I'm hoping for a 12/15 pickup.

I did opt for the sunroof after changing my mind so many times. Like you I thought it opened the car up a lot and I think I will drive around with it open a lot (at night). Since I now live in Florida the climate is a little better for sunroofs but still gets hot as heck in the summer.

I am planning on getting window tint on the car as well as the sunroof. Hopefully that will help out on having the sun bake me when I am driving...

So what part of Austin are you from? My girlfriend lives in South Austin near mopac and Slaughter. I will be visiting her over my Christmas break so you might see me motoring around!

I think I'm on there with all of you on the Caribbean Highway. My MA said it would arrive in port on Dec 6 and hopefully get to Houston/Woodlands Dec 11-13. If it arrives on the 13, the bad news is I'll be out of town...

Hey there fellow Texans! Looks like our MINI's will arrive in less than 2 weeks if there aren't any delays at the VDC.

After the ship drops your car off...you are completely in the dark. No more tracking...so now I have to just wait for a phone call from the MA...and because i'm having mods added at the VDC, who knows how long it will take?

My MA said it could add up to a week extra, so if you were expecting delivery this week then it'll be next. I'm in the same boat, I'm getting driving lights installed at the Distro Center.

Does anyone know if they put in the iPod package at the Distribution center or the dealership??

Also I'm glad I've found some many people on the Caribbean Highway!! It's good to know my Mini has company. Plus they are Texans too, even better.

The sales manager at my dealership implied that if I ordered by a certain time, they'd be able to install the iPod package at the VDC; otherwise, the implication was that it'd be done at the dealership. I never really understood that, and I never investigated any further because my order was already in when he was telling me this. If I were to place a bet, I'd say at the VDC.

It depends on how you ordered it. It can be done either way, though it is generally (unless you get a deal when you order) cheaper when done at the VDC.

Count me in for the Maersk Wind! There are 157 mini's on the ship, and I'm stoked that mine is one of them.

Has anyone else noticed that this (and other) threads get a little confusing with all the different ships? I didn't realize that there were multiple orders and ships in the the production week 46.

I'm in central Austin, just west of downtown...I imagine I will be spending a good amount of time in my MINI late December, so we may indeed see each other on the road!
