Can't speak for danhen, but I've been using sailwx, and someone posted another handy link in the IDII thread as she pulled into Baltimore.

According to the WW site, she's due to leave Baltimore today and begin sailing for Charleston. I've tried digging around the Maryland ports website, but it's beyond useless.

I had been using the sailwx site, but it drops out once it hits the coast. Someone (I forget who) posted a satellite map of Chesapeake Bay, indicating the Independence was there. But the Maryland Port doesn't seem to allow tracking of vessels, unlike Southampton or Charleston.

So, we'll see if sailwx.info picks up the ship as she heads for Charleston.

Last update from sailwx (May 10 6:00 PM UTC) shows the Turandot about 490 miles out from Manzanillo, so not quite there yet, but we'll be in the Pacific soon enough!

FYI, in Booyun's posts listing the ships and the folks with a Mini on them, if you click on the ship your Mini is on ( Blue text, which is a link ), it will take you to the Sailwx site with a map and hours showing where your ship is..

Thanx B!!!!

Hey Indy II folks, are you getting excited yet? Anyone going to the port to see it come in?

The TURANDOT needs to dock at Manzanillo first - that is scheduled for today (Sunday) sometime. It should also leave port today. Then it will travel through the canal. I am hoping to catch it on one of the canal's web cams (http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html) so I can see it going through, but I won't be at my computer all day today (!) so I may miss it. At any rate, it then has 8 days to make it to Port Hueneme. Wow, it's getting closer. I've made it through 5 weeks so far, so I guess I can make it through the next 2-3 weeks...

Not there yet, according to this, but I'm assuming it will be shortly...

What is up with Independence II? Are they just hanging out by the port but not docked?

If you look here http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...CargoSearch.do it says that the Independence II has left for Georgia already. You have to type in your vin#.

According to WW site, the TURANDOT has departed the port of Manzanillo, Panama. I have looked a few times this afternoon on the Panama Canal web cams but haven't seen it - I'm guessing I missed it earlier today. That's ok, it means the ship is a little close to Port Hueneme!

Eight more days before it reaches Port Hueneme. Not that I'm counting or anything.

I must have missed it also. Unfortunately there has been no activity on the sailwx.info site since 1800 UTC 10 May. Let's hope it's steaming toward Port Huneme. Can't wait to see my pepper white MCS in person soon.

Mine says it has left, but hasn't (there are two listings for Charleston, one for 5/11 and another for 5/12.

Unload already. Jeez!

I think I read that sailwx is not updated when the ships are at or near port.

I read Wikipedia's Panama Canal page - apparently it takes about 9 hours to make it through the canal (!) so maybe it's not through yet? I think it depends on how long it stayed docked in Manzanillo.

I thought it was already through since Manzanillo is on the other side of the canal. But zooming in on the map, it doesn't really look like Manzanillo has much in the way of docking. Oh well, 8 more days until it reaches port in Cali. Just wish they'd report on sailwx so I can add another marker on google maps.

On another note, congrats to Jeff on your new MCS! Pure silver was one of my top choices and it looks smashing on on MCS

I think I actually lucked out last time around when my R53 caught a ride on a K-Line ship.

WW's tracking site is so delayed I think it's almost MORE frustrating than not knowing...

Then again, after it leaves the ship it goes into the black hole, so...
