well... starting tomorrow i'm renting a car from enterprise for the next 2 weeks worth of business days. why? because my current car just died on me tonight around 6pm. LUCKILY it broke down right in front of my auto repair shop. tomorrow i'll find out what exactly happened. and "no", i did not plan it that way.

so yeah.... the sooner my MCS arrives at the dealership, the better.

 

ahh...welcome to the club! i've been driving a rental for the past 3 weeks and probably for the next 2-3 weeks as i wait for my MINI to arrive... my old Honda lost his life 3 weeks ago when somehow somebody crashed into it while it was parked on a residential street...don't ask me how.. i have no idea... but it was basically totaled..

but with all things, life goes on... and in 3 weeks i'll be cruising around in my new MINI!!!

 

wow. if we lived nearby, i'd say we should carpool. haha.

yeah tonight, my car was making this weird sound when ever i wasn't using the gas. it sounded like a bicycle with a bunch of playing cards hitting the wheel spokes. then a few mins later it sounded like something fell off and the sounds stopped. the accelerator didn't work anymore. and after my friend and i pushed the car to the lot of my mechanic, we started cranked the engine and it sounded like freddy krueger trying to claw his way out of a metal box.

unfortunately my 'zen-like patience' has now turned into 'impatience'. bah.

oh!!! since you're using a rental.....did you get rental insurance or no? i'm trying to decide if its just a profit generator for them.

 

Sorry to hear about your car s79. No need to purchase the car rental insurance as your regular insurance will cover you in the event of an accident. The only time you need to get the rental insurance is if you do not have other coverage.

yeah..no need to get insurance..

for me, my credit card covers rental insurance...you should check if yours does... and i know for a fact that it works since i once busted a taillight on my rental when i was up in SF...it took a couple weeks to get it all settled but my credit card company came thru with the coverage!

 

Well, it looks like the Turandot arrived, discharged and left! The WW tracking site shows my Clubbie was offloaded at 16:42 yesterday (5/20) and delivered at 16:45. I think that it is stuck in the grid lock of the VDC parking lot!

I wonder how long it is going to take to get through the VDC...

Make sure you read what your credit card insurance covers because some credit card policies will cover only your rental car. If you get into a collision with another car, they may not cover the damage to the other car. This unfortunate situation happened to someone I know .

 

thanks for the 411 people. you all rock. i didn't get insurance. though i did notice 2 small pits in the front windshield when i was cleaning the the windows when i got home. so i'm gonna drive back before work to let them know it wasn't me.

and as for the VDC situation....was it like 1245 bmw/mini vehicles? yiiiiikes......

 

I just checked the WW site and it now shows my MINI as being delivered (to the port)!!!! One step closer.

I've been taking the bus since before I ordered mine because my old car got totalled. I vow never to take the bus again!

 

Just got a call from my MA confirming the install of the accessories oredered. Oh yeah!!!

It was great to hear from him but it makes the wait that much harder. MA says I should get it by the end of the month.

Any others out there that are getting their MINI from Northwest MINI in Fife, WA?

It seems to be an epidemic: the transmission in my current car (Accord) went out two weeks ago. Yikes!

i just found out today from my guy that the timing belt broke. and he said it i've been wayyy lucky. not just in regards how it broke down in front of his shop, but also because i didn't change the belt like i should've at 60k miles. i ran it to 88k on the dot.

anyways...i'm currently driving a '07 (or maybe its a '08) toyota corolla le. and i'm pretty much driving it til the MINI arrives since i'm just gonna donate the car since its gonna cost more than i care to put into it. loved the old car, but i think its time to part ways.

so.... i'm betting (hoping) my MCS will be ready to be picked up at my dealership by........the 29th of this month?

 

You guys are spookin me, I just sold my 92 Toyota 4WD pickup to a guy down the street ( with the understanding that I won't part with it until Hawthorne arrives ). I can't imagine something failing on it before then, I mean, it's only got 307,000 miles on it..

Just got home with our clubbie. Sorry no pics yet it is dark outside. With all the excitement I forgot to take pictures. Will try and post some tomarrow. Ours is the S model with six speed manual and I got 38.6 mpg on the way home doing 70mph. Nice looking car Doogs.
