Introducing "Robbie"
My name is Chris, and I live in Irvine, CA. I currently drive a 2003 Nissan Altima V6, and my wife drives a 1997 Nissan Sentra. Our Nissans have served us very well, but I've wanted a MINI for some time. With a baby, however, we didn't think a Cooper was all that practical. Our payments on the Altima end in a couple months, so knowing that we'd be getting a new car in 2008 (we sort of have a house rule that we only want one car payment at any given time), I started combing the internet last fall. Lo and behold, I found photos and postings about the Clubman. Over time, I slowly convinced my wife that it would be a possibility, and a trip to the LA Auto Show sealed the deal.
So this sunday we sealed the deal and ordered our MINI. We ordered a MINI Clubman S, Lightning Blue, Union Jack roof, Auto, Convenience pkg, Auto AC, Brushed alloy interior (for some reason my wife hated the checked interior, and I gave in), HiFi, and Sirius. Got our production # on Monday, and can't wait to follow - and of course pick up and drive - my new Clubman, which we have named Robbie (my wife will now be driving the Altima). We were going for something that sounded a bit British and spunky, and I'm a big Chelsea supporter, so Robbie is a nice homage to Roberto DiMatteo, who scored a goal at the first Chelsea match I attended.
It's good to "join the club," and I've already learned a ton by lurking around for the past few months.
