How much did they get you for? Just curious b/c I have to bring mine in as well to have it changed....that is after it gets back from the body shop after some jackass tried parallel parking behind me and cut it too soon and got my rear bumper cover, wheel arch and reflector - and of course it's costing $491 just a measly $9 below my $500 deductible.
hope he gets all fixed up and you get him back really soon!

That sucks about the bumper, I'm always amazed by the number of people around here that can't parallel park for beans when it is such a vital part of driving here! I have a coworker who can't parallel park if she doesn't have her backup camera and she doesn't even do a good job then! Lucky for us she just bought a larger SUV...

Hey thanks for the suggestion! I didn't know Aesthetic Creations has them, I was actually looking for one and the one I found before was something that said "Female passengers are advised to remove all constrictive clothing blah blah.." -something like that. Needless to say, I didn't buy it and you wouldn't find that in my PeeWee. Forgot what site was selling it.

$116 for an OIL CHANGE?!
Ok, everyone is going to hate me now, but I work part time at the Auto Hobby shop here on the base.
It costs $3 per hour for the lift and bay, which comes with a full tool box, and oil is either 5w30 or 10w40, Penzoil. Oil is $3 a quart for regular or $5 quart for 10w30 Synthetic.
Man oh man. $116?
Maybe I'm not in a rush to get back Stateside.

I know, I know, I know! It was pretty ridiculous but wanted it done before I hit the 1500 mile mark and was going on a 600 mile roundtrip that weekend. I was stuck between a rock (my stupid apartment parking lease agreement) and a hard place (no time).

And not everyone will hate you - some of us have access too.

Have some time on your hands?
This is a silly website about "13", not so much about 23, but it'll eat 30 mins of the day...

Thanks for the heads-up Eusey. Lately, we've just been trotting around the track doing our Olympic post-total victory laps.
Gotta keep an eye on those upstarts in week 32.

Ok, so the first mod takes place this weekend ... I'm installing a DDMWorks Street intake. I got a "slightly" used one off of here, and it still had all the hardware and instructions. (Plus it saved me about $125 off an Alta .. and reviews on NAM seem very positive.) It looks like a pretty easy DIY, so I'll see how it goes and post an update.

Everybody is different! I love the chrome. Added the chrome hood scoop and think it looks great with the sport stripes and the MINI logo. I wish I had ordered the exterior chrome line, but I didn't.
I may get flamed for this, but my dealer put their new chrome license plate frames on the car. Not too cheesy. They have the MINI logo on the left side with Annapolis in big letters across the bottom. And did I mention they are chrome???
If they said "Dundalk", I might have re-thought this! (local humor)

Got a call from the dealership owner saying because of a 3" scratch on the hood that went undocumented and repaired via "filler"- which is "not BMW policy" at the port (which had nothing to do with it being sent to the wrong port) BMW is having a brand-new MINI shipped to me via carrier and they want to take MY car in less than a week... and I have no choice in the matter- because of a 3" scratch??? Come ON! Something weird is going on. I just called the rep. I was dealing with before at ASK MINI and she is just as baffled and said she will do some digging. Sigh. I finally got Ziggy and now they are trying to take it away? Dealer guy tried to make it sound like a great thing - getting a brand new car, new warranty- but I don't feel that way. Ziggy is 1.5 months old, 3000 miles but I don't want to give him up and go through the hassle of changing the VIN on everything again- licence plate, insurance, Ohio into a Michigan title, lien holder etc... I was told "BMW will take care of everything." ...????

Wow, that is very weird.
I would be very worried about what really may have happend to your car before you got it. I don't think they send you a new MINI because of a 3 inch scratch either, but if it were me, I wouldn't ask any more questions about what happened and go with the deal, especially of they are gonna take care of everything involving the taxes, registration, etc. (Get that part in writing!)
I think this may also explain the "delivered to the wrong port" story.

Well I would think you would always have a choice in the matter, you just don't take delivery of the new car! as you said you already have Ziggy registered, insured, the lien holder, etc... Ziggy is YOURS. So I would think that if you do not want to part with him, then don't! I just don't see how they could force the matter.
Why didn't they just send a replacement bonnet? That would make more sense, at least to me... but what do I know!
Very odd.... keep us updated!
