I did take off the wheels. Two at a time in fact since I only have two jack stands. It took me about 3-4 hours painting it since I was doing some other things. I did three coats per caliper. If you have a heat gun you may use that to speed up drying time and maybe do more coats.

I used the brush on caliper paint kit and not the spray. Didn't really like the idea of red overspray on a white car.
Thanks for the info. Do you think it looks much different if you use the spray instead of the brush-on paint? And can you tell me what kind of paint you used and where you got it?

Sorry to ask a lot of questions but I really like the look!

Rich

Thanks, Rich

You want to ask him yourself, krim? Hey.. how do you know about "kuya"?
I have lots of pinoy friends and well, i basically bleed chicken adobo. mmm... chicken adobo... dang, i'm hungry now. Oh and we used to go to ALL the Legend parties back in the day, we even went to ones in SF.

and in high school, i'd ask the pinays out and they'd say they couldn't because i was their "kuya".

Paint used

Np. I really don't think the color would be too different. To be honest with you, I was a bit too lazy to tape up the things I didn't want painted hence the brush-on.

Since the MINI accumulates so much brake dust, you want to make sure you clean it well. With the brush-on paint, I think there's a higher risk of the dust mixing with the paint especially if you don't clean the calipers well. If it mixes with the paint, you might get a darker color if you are looking for a brighter color. You also want to make sure you have a lot of time to do it and not rush.

The paint I used was the Duplicolor Kit. You can get it your local auto parts store for less than $20. I heard some people say they chip but I haven't had any problems on my car.

Here is a link so you can see your color choiceshttp://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html

If you want more color choices you can probably go with G2 caliper paint. http://g2usa.com/products.shtml

MossMini has them: http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/SearchR...WebCatalogID=0

I'm not sure why they are more expensive...

ok news update: Firstly, I did just read what i have missed, i will not make any comments, i'll just jump back in.

Secondly: *:Health Update:*

I was ambulanced back into the hospital early sunday morning (2am).

I was in severe pain, morphine would not even touch the pain. A cat-scan revealed that my digestive system had switched off due to the shock of surgery. I was hospitalized and put on pain meds, NG tube to empty my stomach and told to rest more or less.

All is now well, digesting, no pain, a little appetite though. I more or less have not eaten in 10 days so my stomach is shrunken up.

To anyone who has ever spent any time in hospital i feel your pain, and I wish good health to all of NAM. Keep healthy.

rich get the G2 caliper paint and not the duplicolor. - it is rated double the temperature.

Ugh, I wake up this morning to a text message from my roommate, "I filled up your tank with Regular on accident." What! 1) Where are you with my poor little car? and 2) IDIOT!!!

Now I know its not going to kill it, but ugh, my lead foot is not going to be easy to resist while I've got such poison running through my engine.

if you're worried or it starts to ping, get a bottle of octane booster and pour in half the bottle.

just don't get the revs up over 4k, you should be fine. If the engine starts to ping it'll just pull back your timing. You will definitely see decreased performance if you try and push it.
