Yikes, sorry to hear about all the trouble..

if it makes you feel any better, this idiot was weaving in and out of morning traffic, and just as he got in front of the car ahead of me, his left rear delam'd and exploded in a shower of rubber. tread cracked my lower grill and I haven't jacked up the car to see if anything was seriously damaged when the tread went under and thunked a few times.

and i have a lurching every once in a while now, as well as a wierd surging.. i wonder if it's the summer formula gas we switched to.

Well, i went to pick up the car.

The new clutch just wasnt the same. The original felt solid and stiff. The new one felt loose.

The sunroof still wasnt fixed. The LED still didnt match even though they said they replaced them.

So....... i traded it in, and took it on the chin. yes yes, i know how dumb it is to buy a car new, take the loss of value, then turn around and trade in.

I didnt loose as much as I could have. I worked it that they came off the sticker and gave me more for my trade. Not the best, but not the worst. I think both sides gave evenly.

The new bonk:

2009 135i.
Fully loaded. Has the NAV, Premium package, M package (wheels, bigger brakes)
Lemaans Blue.
300 HP TT. This car has as much ***** as my previous e46 M3. Plenty nice. I also like it b/c you dont see too many 135's on the road. They only got released to the US last year. They sell plenty in europe.

Unless you are a BMW enthusiast, most foks have not heard of the 1 series. Couple folks already on the road I can tell were looking at the car and noticing the 135 on the back.

I very much enjoyed chatting with you all. I just cant stand that many issues with a new car. Too much writing on the wall for me.

Take care and I will pop in from time to time, as a friend still has her MINI.

seriously, congrats on the new car. Not a disappointing switch at all. I love those cars so much, especially that color. I kinda wish they sold the 1 series hatches in the US.

I'd make the switch too, but the payments would be way more then I'd like. Maybe when they're coming off leases in a few years...

My friends wanted me to consider the 1 series before I had Peewee but it didn't interest me as much as the MINI did!

Goodluck on your new ride!

Rubbing Noise in the Hood

Anyone of you guys hear any rubbing sounds when you turn the steering wheel to the right or left? Been hearing it from time to time and I already had it checked but they didn't find anything.

^I had a rubbing sound when fully turned once, turned out I lost one of the clips that holds the fender liner in place.

they're satin black, with a blue trim around all the numbers. It just makes the numbers stand out a little more during the day, plus, it'll go with the pacific blue interior that I have.

I'm also considering changing the LED's to have everything light up blue. I think that's going to be really involved so I'm doing my fair share of research before diving into that.

after driving in dusk conditions, i can say I might recommend going with a lighter color as the number outline. The blue isn't quite bright enough.

Although, now I'm considering trying to get a hold of a spare speedo and tach to do a orange-blue LED conversion.
