I called my MA today, but since he was off yesterday, he doesn't know if my car is at the dealer or when it might be ready. He said he would call me back with some info.

Questions for those lucky ones who have taken delivery:
- How complex is the prep the dealer has to make on a new MINI? (I don't
have any dealer installed options for them to install)
- How drawn out is the actual closing of the deal at the dealer? (I have my
bank check, no trade) How long is the orientation?

This last bit of waiting is killing me. It's worse these last few days, then when the car was in England!!

not taken delivery yet, but this may give you an idea.

My MA said if the car comes on monday, we can pick it up on tuesday. If it comes on tuesday, then we can pick it up on wed.

We are having the JCW suspension, strut bar, and sport stripe put on. Not big tasks, but tasks on top of normal delivery prep..

That should give you an idea.

Thanks!

I asked the sales manager at Mini of St Louis and he believes the Charleston VDC works through the weekend. If that's correct, that's great for those of us moving through there!

What!
I want equity!

Of course by equity, I mean, schedule the NYC overtime!

Not taking delivery for 16 more hours...but...

1) Negligible. My only "dealer installed" options were Sport Stripes, and those were put on at the VDC. Possibly why I spent 4 days at the VDC instead of 3? My car came off the truck last night and my MA told me I could have picked it up at noon today. (Unfortunately I had work in Manhattan and can't make it out there before their MTTS event, arg!)

2) My MA asked for a copy of my insurance binder, my license, and (I threw in a copy of the certified PenFed check) which I faxed to him yesterday. He was prepping all the paperwork, said it would take about 15 minutes, and then he'd spend as long or as little time as I'd like with him going through the car. I'm taking delivery at 8:30, I expect to be at work by 10:30. (The drive is a glorious 50 mile trip!!)

So, I'm having this conversation with a couple of coworkers last night, and it becomes this whole MINI debate.

I don't need to justify my purchase, since the reason I got the car is because I wanted it! I have many reasons why I love the MINI and they are why I decided to order it.

Anyway, do you all have any witty comments to give out to a non-MINI lover?

I feel like last night was just the beginning...wait until they see me driving it!

Get some new encouraging coworkers? Most of my coworkers found out today what I was buying when I explained I was taking a half-day tomorrow (which is basically unheard of for me) for delivery. Their comments were along the lines of, "nice choice!", "the Ses are SO much fun to drive!", "that was probably the best choice of fun vs oil prices!"

Just let them know that you were not asking them to ride in it and when they start paying for you car, they can ***** about it all they want. Until that happens...motor!

Many of my coworkers are awesome. Some are duds, but all of them have the guts to speak thier minds, and for that I commend them! I just want a couple of funny/witty/quirky lines to spout off, and frankly I could think of none on the spot.

One of the reasons I like this car is because of that love it or hate it attitude that people have. It's kind of like me, it's all or nothing, love me or hate me.

If it is the chick/gay/clown car meme, and the threat is the revocation of your man card, just tell them that they are welcome to it, you have a lot more.
