Cross post from the FEDORA thread. As of this morning, the OL finally kicked over to enroute. That's four of the 9 days at sea....

"Comfort Access" - please explain, sorry i have not heard of this yet. Is this included in a certain package or is this something "added"?

It's a package for the R55/R56. It is a RF smart key that does not need to put into the ignition slot. It allows the doors to unlock just by proximity (have to push the little button on the door handle. Includes central locking, includes ignition starter, includes memory seat adjustments and includes memory steering wheel position.

the window not going up thing seems to be a industry standard. MY 350Z fob had windows go down but not up. Wife's 330i did the same. MY M3 would open the convertible top and windows, but not close.

Friends VW jetta was the same.

go figure!!

i didn't like most of the options that the comfort access package included. I hate automatic lights, windshield wipers and mirrors. The keyless go piece is cool, but not worth the $500 optional price. Just my $0.02

Oh, and my gas gauge still shows 9/12 with 207 miles on it so far!
Zoned, aren't you concerned about voiding your warranty because of the recommended (required) break-in procedure?

MININ says:
Up to 1,200 miles/2,000 km
Drive at varying engine and road speeds, but do
not exceed the following:
> 4,500/min or 100 mph/160 km/h

I'm not saying the MINI procedure is right or correct. One doesn't break in a racecar engine that way. But MINI writes the warranty and the owner's manual so it's their rules.

I'm right with ya.

It's just something to malfunction. My buddy has a lexus and his automatic lights don't function right. Sometimes it turns his lights on during the day, or won't turn on his lights at night. City driving really seems to get them all confused.

I'd much rather have control of my wipers and lights. Comfort access, pretty cool, but definitely not something I'll miss... Especially the little buttons on the handles...

Do we have anything to add to this (very) comprehensive list?
Great List! Thank you!

I got the comfort access. I love auto lights-on my Rendezvous they worked fine. I've never had auto wipers... can you turn off the auto so you just do it manually? And what's the problem with the mirrors?

Yes there's a way to turn off the auto wipers. You're supposed to turn them off in automatic carwashes to avoid damage (so says the user manual).

I agree that I prefer to control the headlights and wipers myself. I talked with several friends in Seattle (rain city) and the friends that have the auto-wiper feature really like it. The friends that didn't buy it said they would order it when they bought another MINI. One person told me the problem was that the manual control intermittent wiper speed was still too fast for very light misty days. So I ordered auto everything. I believe we will all be happy with whatever option we ordered. Some of these features are like religious beliefs.

My god is LSD and I put no other gods before her.

I'm sure you will love your car just as much as I will love mine whenever we get them.

Doesn't the key fob also prevent you from locking your keys in the car? I can't remember how many times I've locked my keys in the car in the past year.

I got the convenience package because I loved the fact that long as you have your keys within a few meters of your MINI, it'll open, even if you have it inside your bag. And I can't count how many times I'd have to rummage inside my backpack just to find it. My brother's Prius has the same package, that's actually where I got the idea of getting it from. I thought it was cool. Teehee! Dchap is right, to each his own.. or simply put, "one man's meat is another man's poison". ...or something like that.

Having once had a window go up while my head was sticking out of it and having my throat nearly crushed, i'm not bothered missing that feature.

I'd much rather have the window switches closer to me than the center stack.
