June 19th Completion

Hello all - new to posting on this forum but have been using this site for gathering information as I got set to order my MCS. A lot of good information being shared here. I found out my MCS is to complete production on the 19th of June, wow day after tomorrow. Hoping for a quick trip to Northwest Mini!

I have heard the same story for the past several days: it is in production, but hasn't made it to the body/paint shop yet. Still scheduled for completion on the 20th. It started production at 8:51am on the 11th.

Interestingly, about the same time that the news stopped flowing, the automated line would kick me over to "Customer Relations" desk while it was looking up my info. This afternoon I called back to the automated line and it finally gave me some news... completion on the 20th. Hmmph!

At least it could look me up again. Maybe the system has been updated, and they've finally moved enough of you other guys out of the endless body shop so I can have my turn!

Jeremy

Well, Mini says I'm in the paint shop with a completion date of today. It's 1:00pm over there right now, so I'll check back later today and see if it's really true.

See, this is where it gets confusing. You ordered a day after I did, with production starting two days after mine did, but completing the same day (or earlier if yours actually completes today). Cybergypsy ordered the same day as I, with production starting a day later, and for a while she was told that she'd be completing production a day before me, but now it looks like she's a day behind. Factoring in the strike, your build time would be five days, mine and Cybergypsy's would be eight days. I'm starting to think that certain options can really screw with the production time. At the same time I wish I knew how they came up with these time frames.

Automated system now tells me I'm in the body shop with an estimated completion of June 19th still.

Mine says I am in the paint shop and today is the day BUT KNow it will still take one to two more days after paint....the MA told me 1 day for paint, 1 to 2 for assambily so people behind me dont think you will have it tommorrow as today was my complete date :( Mine still says June 18th:(

Yes, I struggled over this option but since I wanted the 17" wheels and it was packaged in the sport package I figured I would get it and not have to worry about wishing I had.

Don't worry about the completion day....worry about missing a ship and having to wait 10 days for the next one!! The average car sits around on the docks for 5 days waiting to get on a ship so the critical date really centers around the ship booking that you get. In other words, you can have a 2 day delay at the factory and still be on the same ship.

Yes, if I had more time to think about it I might have gotten the convenience package too. Mini is very clever how they package things that you "might want" and discount them so you say "oh heck, why not...I'll go for it".

My first serious build on miniusa was a non-S non-metallic paint car with sport package.....period. Look where I ended up!

Sounds like we went through the same thought process...I became pretty proficient with the miniusa configurator! You are right in that Mini is smart in how they package the options. The hard copy catalog I got from the dealership had packages that are different than the online configurator, they must have figured out how to better optimize the selection process.

Congrats! You'll probably be on the Undine leaving June 30th and arriving July 23rd into Port Hueneme. If you are super lucky you will get on the Maersk Wave which leaves on June 20th. Not sure if Minis can make it onto a ship in just one day after completion.....that would be cool if they can.

I received the same status, in the paint shop today and scheduled for completion tomorrow 6/19. I talked to a customer representative today and he said it usually takes a couple of days to get to the ship. I was/am hoping that my car will make the Undine but does not look likely. Missing that boat adds a couple weeks to the wait.

I'd think 11 days would be plenty to make it to the dock. Heck, I'm hoping I can hit the Emden on 6/23.
