All Aboard the RIGOLETTO - leaving Southampton 6/4/08 for Port Hueneme!

Congrats to all who have, or are picking up their new Minis this week. You'll all have a big grin this holiday weekend in your new cars.
Me...I won't see my bmw until next week because it's stuck in customs. It takes around 10 days for euro delivery cars to get to a SoCal dealer after the ship docks.
At least we're not in China...That wait's gotta be worse! You think there are a bunch of Chinese people at their computers right now tracking the Rigoletto as it goes across the Pacific...saying, "Great, we're near the Aleutian Islands!"?

I picked mine up this morning. I then drove straight to work. Haven't got to have much fun yet. Went to the taco truck for lunch and got it all dusty. Glad I ordered when I did; new orders are looking at October now. There are a lot less cars on the lot now as well. Only 2 clubbies. I took a couple pictures. I need to take more.

Hello all... Wellington's home! Here are a couple of pics when we picked him up at the dealership. He's already looking a little different, as he got a clear bra, window tint, and new antenna this afternoon. Only downside is that we can't put the top down, or roll the windows down, for two days while the tint cures.
More photos this weekend!

Congratulations to all who have their new cars. I was planning on picking mine up tomorrow but my MA just called and said it has not arrived at the dealership yet. Talk about a let down. He said it was released for transport on the 28th but not scheduled to be shipped until today. To make it even worse, I live 3 hours from the dealership and can't get there during the week, so it will be anonther 8 days before I take delivery. Arghhhhhhh......

Mine must have been late arriving at the dealership but I finally heard back from my MA and we made the appointment to pick up Saturday morning. The icing on the cake is that we'll be able to take delivery before getting our credit union loan finalized. I guess it's called an "either, or" deal where we have 5 business days to get everything switched to the other lender. That will save us a trip out there to get the purchase order etc. I've never bought a new car before so I didn't know that was possible. I'll be so relieved to have this car as my current one is about to bite the dust any day and I'm 8 months preggo.

I picked mine up yesterday. I posted some pics in my gallery. My MA was out, so we worked with another one (easy money for my MA). Saw a nice MY Clubby there awaiting it's new home. Guess the owner isn't as obsessive as us. Gotta say, BRG/B doesn't seem to photograph that well. Looks great in person.
I drove to lunch today with co-workers. I gave them a fun ride. This thing can corner. Wow. That had fun with the speedo (can't read it. is that a clock, etc).
Driving a stick is coming back as well. Haven't got to experience the mood lighting yet (haven't driven at night). Much more fun than my Civic. The wife made me clean the civic before she would drive it. I vacuumed it 3 yrs ago; not sure what her problem is.
Dealer gave me a little swag: hat, key chain (with bulldog on it), and a nice stainless mug. Spend $23K+ on a car and get $23 worth of stuff. Oh well. My middle son traded a lego dragon to the youngest to keep him from wanting the keychain; now the key chain is his. Kids.

UPDATE: Had (haven't named yet) since last monday evening. Love the car. I drove it to work. Freaking awsome ride. I drive a 335i sedan which is faster but I feel more connected to the road with the Mini. The wife and I are taking road trip up the left coast from San Diego to whereever in Washington state. I know I need to post pics. Tomorrow.

We picked up our Clubman yesterday morning and let me say that the flat straight roads by the dealership didn't do it any justice on the test drive. We live in the hills and man...this car is fun! Even this base model has plenty of kick! I'm coming from an old large sedan with a V6 engine and yeah, it went fast but it handled like, well, a large sedan. I ended up trading in the old car for $125...it had a lot of engine problems and I'm just so glad to be rid of it and finally driving something new. I had no problems installing the infant and child seats in the back with my big belly either. My two year old saw it and said "my car!". I still need to take pics since yesterday was a busy day for us.

I am enjoying the heck outta mine. I already ordered some good floor mats (with red borders) then I have Alta's quick blinking rear brake light, 4" stubby antenna, and both the top & bottom black mesh grills coming. I am contemplating getting the H&R springs, but not sure I want the added "stiffness" that will come along with them. I am on a "black-out" campaign, I want to get rid of all the chrome on that car.

Are you having dealer installed options? My MA was telling me a week for delivery (with nothing to be installed) until I pushed back. Wellington arrived at the dealer the afternoon of July 1, and we picked him up the morning of July 3.

FINALLY GOT MY Mini. All is forgiven. Had a great experience with My MA Sara as we went though the car. They could not handle the capactiy and I had to go through my alotted time slot for preparing Minis. It was hard to wait knowing that it sat for a week at the dealership. Picutres in my Gallery.
