How to Track your MINI: Revised, Expanded and Updated
#101
okay... I get as far as finding which ship it's been loaded onto and it shows that it's set out from Southampton, but the only information I can find on the ship name is "Carmen"... when I look that up on the tracker over the Atlantic, it pulls up about 15-20 different vessels with "Carmen" in their name.
Is there some other way I can narrow it down?

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=S6IW
the information is way out of date. Here is what the sailwx site says:
Last reported at 2008-Dec-28 07:04 UTC. Time now 2009-Mar-29 21:01 UTC.
Position N 48°08', W 123°23'.
Warning: this ship's position is months out of date.
Sailwx will track your ship only if the Carmen reports the weather as it moves across the ocean. It looks like the Carmen is not reporting the weather, so it is not trackable.
If your Carmen was scheduled to leave Southampton on March 20, and arrive in New York on March 30, which is what the Wallenius-Wilhelmsen schedule indicates, then this callsign, S6IW, is the right one.
I know it's torture to not know what is going on. My boat didn't report-in, either, so I couldn't track it, either. Right now my MINI may be at the vehicle distribution center, on a semi, or at the dealership. Hang in there. Yours is on the way!

Mr_Bueno, try this tonight and tomorrow. You may be able to see an icon for the Carmen as she moves around the harbor:

Awesome thread!
This thread rocks! The owners lounge still says my car is in production, but I put the VIN into the WW site to see what ship my car would be on. It actually just shipped today! If anyone else has a car on the Don Pasquale, you can see it leaving port on some of the saved maps from earlier today here.

Our mini was on the Don Carlos which was to exit at Charleston 4/6 The ship is shown arriving @06:35 and leaving @11:45 today.. I tried to find the mini in the Charleston Port with the bill of landing number. But have no luck.. I get no such #. Is there any way to track the mini from now until it gets to the dealer. Thanks for your help..

No More Status Codes
Hello Zonedguy. Thanks for the great info on tracking our Mini's. I'm not sure whether all this information has been a blessing or a curse The more info you know...the more you can go crazy over some of the logistics involved.
FYI, 866-Ask-MINI informed me that they no longer use status codes. Not sure how true that is but I just thought I would let you know.
BTW....really no reason that Ask-MINI should not have information on what ship a particular Mini is booked on. Not all MA's are created equal. Having a company "lose sight" of their vehicle is not believable by any stretch of the imagination. At UPS, it is always the shippers (Mini/BMW) responsibility to handle any issues until that "package" is delivered.
I have "watched" our Mini sit at Southampton now (at the docks on 3/31) only to watch ships depart destined for my port of entry (Charleston SC) without having our Mini on board. The Integrity left on 4/4/09 destined for Charleston.
Seems like they need to get their "Ship" together or drink less British Ale

I think I remember it saying that mine was getting shipped to Georgia? I will have to look when I get back from my trip... Is there a 'support group' for our build week? If not we should make one and take this off of this thread - I'm getting really excited to get the car (and get out of Iraq and back to the States to drive it!!)

Thanks to the help of a Nice Man from the Port of Halifax
"The Pure Car and Truck Carriers of W&W such as the Faust dock at a private marine terminal called "Autoport" on the Dartmouth side of the harbour in Eastern Passage. As far as I know, because of the high security nature of their business, there is no webcam which will allow you to view the dischrage of the ship."
