It's been forever, but I'm glad to see Week 32 still motoring. Has anyone had their 1st year service?

I'm a few hundred miles form my first scheduled service. I've put nearly 14K miles on.

For a change I didn't buy something for my JCW, but instead I bought a new laptop. Brand new MacBook Pro 15" should be here next week.

Did you get the non-gloss MBP version?

I was waiting for Apple to add the anti-glare option on the 15". This will replace my early 2007 17" MBP. I should have it next week. Then I'll sell my 17" MBP. I wanted something smaller since I use an external 24" monitor at home and at work.

Unibody 15" MacBook Pro
3.06 GHz
4 GB RAM (I'll update this to 6 GB soon, 8 GB later)
500 GB 7200 RPM drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB

What do you do that uses that much RAM and video? Just curious.

1. Photography. I use Adobe Lightroom (and looking at Aperture) where I may cull thousands of photos and want to quickly render 1:1 pixel previews. I have had crashes due to low memory.
2. Software engineering. I run a lot of apps simultaneously while programming, plus I run Windows XP running in VMWare. I have 3 GBs RAM now and that has not been enough.

Also, Snow Leopard (which is now golden master) will use the GPU on the 9600M GT. I'm hoping that will do a lot to speed up photo processing for me.

I need to schedule a service in a couple of weeks. MBPs are great I bought one for my wife last year and she loves it!

Apple and Service

Guess Apple computers and MINIs go together. I, too, am a Mac user - at least at home. On my 5th one now - first was a Mac+ in 1985 (I think). Now have an iMac, and my wife has a base model MacBook (the white one). That's all the power we need.

I'm helping my son move to Florida this weekend, but plan to call the dealer to set up the 1 year service when I return. I took delivery on Sept 8th last year, so it's about time. I have almost 8K miles on Phantom.

Best wishes to all Week 32ers!

Happy belated birthday, everyone! Looks like I should schedule an apptmt with the dealer..

RaceTripper - Macbook - nice... are you going to trick it out, too, like your JCW? Perhaps a nice checker pattern protective covering?

For me:

Mac Plus
Mac SE
Mac IIci (had that 7 years)
PowerBook Duo 230
Power Mac 7300
Power Mac 8100
Power Mac 9600/300
I got pissed off at Apple and switched to Solaris/Windows/Linux for 8 years until the change to intel allowed me to virtualize Windows, etc on a Mac.
17" MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz (2007)
15" unibody MacBook Pro 3.06 GHz (2009)

Speaking of apple is anyone using either the 2nd Generation or 3rd Generation iPhone? It's driving me crazy that my ipod connection in the center console area no longer charges my iphone. First generation iPhone was perfect, upgraded to the GS version and now I've lost the charging power. Any thoughts?
Just scheduled my 1st service - they are also going to look at a couple of door dints, which I'm hoping they can fix. Got to hate door swingers!!
Happy Anniversary Week 32ers

Got a Friday service date! Exactly a year from the day we brought her home.

Mrwickham, they should be able to get the dings out as long as they can get a tool behind the ding.

Got mine scheduled for Friday, September 11. Should be the annual oil change only... my car still says it will be 11K miles before the first scheduled service. I will have about 8000 miles at the 1 year anniversary. But, I have a driver's window that is dropping a little lower than normal (on open), and I have the sunroof sticking problem. So, I had planned to just go in for an oil change, but my service manager wants to give me a loaner and keep Phantom for a couple days so they can check everything out. Certainly is very proactive of them. I'll report the results when I get Phantom back.

Check this thread. Short story. iPhone 3GS really needs a 1500mA USB port and the console iPod adapter only provides 500mA. I've ordered the USB Y-adapter described n the thread so I can connect the iPod adapter to the console and the cigarette lighter socket for charging. I have Navigon on my iPhone and am using it for GPS navigation, so I need to keep my iPhone charging during use.

Thanks for the information on the iphone connection. Does anyone have a web address for it - too many options in Amazon. BTW - my MINI gets her physical on Thursday. Today she is 1 - no cake, but a good drive in sports mode made her smile.

Hi Week 32er's! It's been ages since I've been here, but I wanted to say Happy Belated Birthday to everyone who is already past their anniversary date.
Bernard is still running great. Yesterday I went in for a new inspection sticker and got a chuckle out of the confusion the station had over the one rear fog and the single reverse light.
We're around 10K miles and I still can't get over how much I love my car!! I need to pull out my manual.... from looking at the posts, are most of you going in for one year checks? Will they go ahead and change out the oil at 1 year or still wait for the light?

Grace

Hi gbsim.... they'll change it, they will probably leave the comp alone...so it will alert you in around 5k.
