Congrats Plutch!!
Wow Sikamini you've got some options going on!!!
I'm getting the driving lights at the VDC and the clearshield when it gets to the dealer (by a local tint shop that does the work for them). We've got so many sand and gravel trucks and crud on the roads here in LA that it will hopefully help.
I've been thinking about getting one of the short antennas and I have this crazy idea to have a selection of antenna *****.... you know one for every season etc...is this dumb??
Just placed an order for Prima products... whew! After spending that much I'd better keep it clean!!

'08 MCCS Laser Blue/Silver etc, etc

We had all of the factory performance options and I wanted just a little bit more, I wish all of it could have been installed at the factory.
A short antenna with ballz, interesting idea, will they stay on a short stubby? I've seen them on a regular MINI antenna, they don't look bad, a little whimsical maybe - but that's good. I still need to break the news, that our cleaning supplies are not adequate for baby!

Not yet, the captains not playing! Some post very regular intervals, others want to have secret sortees with MINI pirates!!

WoooHooo!! Congrats plutch!! You're on a packed ship with a whole lot of MINIs!!

Sikamini, you sure are getting a bunch of stuff added!! I think if you placed it with the order, most will be done at the VDC.. *i think*

ummm yes, I hid the invoice form my hubby! I spent $230 + on Prima Products, and I still need to order my leather care! I have hardly EVER washed my own car.. so I better get use to this hobby FAST!!

So, I just wonder how important it is to have a clear bra if you just drive on normal highway/city roads. I don't plan on racing, or driving on dirt/gravel roads. And I worry about the "look" seeing a seam...

Thanks!!!!! Denstep getting on a boat made me question my MA's information because we are in the same week and our dealerships are not that far away. I was glad to see my "Cargo" (read: car) on the Maersk Wind. Mid September pickup should not be a problem!

I've just check mine at WW and still no tracking information available. So my poor AB MCS is still sittin on the dock of bay watching the clouds roll away that any everyone else's mini by the look of things here.

On a different note my MA is either very new at the job or not that bright as he told me they put 4,000 on a ship each week! He also said that once they get here the Omaha dealership waits until they have a full load of 8 minis and then the truck brings them to NE. Not been that impressed with them, good thing I get all the knowledge I need from you folks at NAM!

Oh - clear bra cost $695, mud flaps installed are $155, and rubber mats are $85 here in the heartland.

I'm still thinking about clear bra, but what about the line? What does dirt do to either side, and is it really clear? So many questions, but I guess I'll have time to think about them and read every MINI website while my MINI tries to avoid British pigeon poop.

I bet your on the Western Highway. There is a couple other people from NE. on it that was built about the same time.

Cheer up, you could be on Caribbean Highway and not even know it. Keep checking the automated ASKMINI message Monday and Tuesday.

plutch: GOOD job organizing the list that way. Excellent!

Im still debating wheather i should add OEM alarm. I just want it to honk and siren if someone breaks the window. Better than making no sound. Can they install that at VDC?

JCW aero: I think im gonna order it via Morristown MINI and have my bodyshop paint it and Ill install it. I wanted the arches to be prepped and painted. It is easier to buy the wheel arches (all 4 of them are around $100 total and it includes all the clips) and drop it off at the bodyshop along with the JCW aero kit. My guy is charing around $800 for painting. So near $2500~ plus my labor, i think it is still a cheaper route than VDC option (they wanted to charge me $2250 painted/installed but i want the arches and extensions painted)

Clearbra: Ill probably do this after JCW aero kit is installed - wil cover the arches too

Stripes: After clearbra, maybe ill get one just to give a little ummph.

Stereo: I got non hifi and I have JL amps and some Boston Acoustic components laying around.... just need some 6x9s for the rear

Things already bought:
1) Sirius Sportster 5 + SMB antenna to be used directly with car antenna
2) detailing stuff
3) Alta 4inch stubby

Wish list:
1) CROSS coilovers
2) nice 17in wheels and real tires
3) Intake
4) Win the Lottory

Western Highway and Fidelio churn up 195 miles each. Independence II is approximately near the southern tip of Nova Scotia under cloak. Caribbean Highway and Maersk Wind due to uncloak today.

Western Highway:
Last reported at 2008-Aug-16 06:05 UTC. Time now 2008-Aug-16 10:54 UTC.
Position N 38°00', W 063°18'.

Fidelio:
Last reported at 2008-Aug-16 06:00 UTC. Time now 2008-Aug-16 10:57 UTC.
Position N 50°24', W 036°24'.

Independence II is probably approaching the Gulf of Maine, looks like she is within her daily sailing range of port. Maybe the coastal AIS can uncloak her. Western Highway will probably drop off the reports sometime today.

Hard to say, but based on the Western Highway progress, it's looking like she may make it to Baltimore a day early, which (theoretically) should put her into Charleston a day early as well (Aug 20th rather than 21st) ... keeping fingers crossed!

I talked to my dealer and he says it takes them about two days between receiving the car at the dealer and getting the necessary papers such that I can pick it up. With the I-II docking on Monday, I figure if it can get to my dealer by Wednesday, there's a slight chance I may have it by Friday! *fingers crossed*

That said, I've got about a 45 mile drive from the dealer to my house. I was thinking of telling the dealer to not wash the car, but now I think I might just let them such that I don't have to worry about it getting a mess on the drive home. Plus, when I get it I won't exactly be wanting to spend hours detailing it (I'll want to be driving it! )

What do people think? Should I tell them not to wash it? Do they do more than just a wash for delivery? Or should I just let them this one time?

Western Highway and Independence II both within a days sail of port. Maybe the reason neither is reporting, or they've deciede to cloak due to over anxious MINI parents trying to board!!

Maersk Wind (rtwerk you beat me to it) uncloaked hopeing to see Caribbean Highway soon.

Hopeing for the same!! A day early in Charleston will give the VDC started earlier. Maybe I'll have our MINI by the first week in September.

Tinker, thanks for reworking the "week 32 status list" and keeping it in order.

I feel like I'm hearing the announcer at the horse races!

I'm having the same worries as Tu13es about the washing at the dealers.... I know it will need it, but don't want the dreaded swirls!

I wonder if they really go early or just hang off to sea in order to stay on their port schedule. I have this mental image of new Mini owners chartering a boat and going out to see the ship and escort it in!

I am more than OK with the dealer washing mine. It will be the last time that it gets that thorough of a wash. I fully intend on motoring this thing (just like the Field Guide mandates) with dirt, paint chips, and grime. If it's lucky, it will get a bimonthly hose-down.

I don't care if my dealer washes my car. It goes on a road trip right after that. After I return I will do a ground up detail: Dawn wash, claybar, PC polisher, Zaino. It doesn't really matter how good or bad a job the dealer does once I'm done. I'll make it look way better anyway.
