Silly Question

When/if you ordered your MINI, did the MA ever charge you the $1000 holding deposit? I did my ordering through the internet so my MA collected a credit card # from me, but its been over a week now and no charge. I'm not sure if I should be happy or nervous...

Its probably not an issue... just the wait for the MINI makes you think of some crazy things

Hmm i believe this is just the "order charge" but it goes towards the value of your mini. My MA told me about this also but that is odd that you havent gotten charged for it yet. I would call and ask

They must charge after they receive the car. I wrote a check for the deposit and it has not been cashed. I think they get it in case you change your mind after the order. Who would do that though?

Well thats the weird part to me. My MA said if you change your mind, can't recieve fincancing, or have some issue with the vehicle shipped you could walk away and get your entire deposit back.

I thought the money was to ensure they don't sell the MINI to some other buyer, its what binds them to reserve it for you.

Well I e-mailed my MA, we'll see what he has to say.

Our dealer has always taken money from us up front, be it check or card. That goes toward the price in the end. Technically it may not be refundable (not sure about that), but they'd be happy to refund it as they can sell them off the lot for even more that we're paying. (Especially these days.)

I wrote a $1000 check back in early June. It was never cashed. I emailed my MA about it, but he never answered that particular question.

So, I just have an extra $1000 sitting in my checking account, not earning interest, for a month now, that always throws me off to see a value in there that is higher than normal. I just wish they would have commuicated to me that that they were going to hold the check. Then I could have left that $$ in savings.

Oh well. Next week they will be cashing that check!

Well, I ordered mine from dealership on memphis and the 1000 was out of my account in 2 days. Maybe it's a dealer-to-dealer difference?
Not worried though...picking her up at 10 AM!!!!!
I think she had a GREAT time on her 4th of July cruise!! hehe
Just be forwarned....the Owner's Lounge STILL has my car as "en route" when I just saw it at the dealer with my own eyes....so not sure about the accuracy of that!!
Let your stalking begin!!! :-)

We went to the dealership to order. We wrote a check for $500 that day, it was cashed a few days later. We were told if we didn't take delivery, the deposit would be refunded to us once the car finally sold. The deposit is applied to the purchase.
