After each of my first two Mini's I drifted away from NAM and that will surely happen again once I've had the LaB a bit. But for now, having the 1st Gear forum helps to make the wait an experience that can be shared with others who understand it and who are having the same kind of fun. I appreciate it.

I just found out my production week is now 36!
The customer rep at Ask MINI is so nice. Ok here's what I learned:
- Week 36 will start assembling next week.
- The cars will be done (I guess finishing building) starting the first week of September.
- AND, I got my VIN number.
The long wait has been tough, but it's quite exciting to go through all the various stages of production and delivery.

This is getting ridiculous - I think I've read every R56 thread on NAM, and production hasn't even started yet! I've already started looking at/planning group motoring outings, despite not having the car or knowing anyone here who does. Can I put myself in a coma for the next month?

There's some good videos on youtube, and the one on mini.com showing how they build minis is pretty cool.

I haven't read much from the OL yet; my computer kinda sucks and often has issues with it, but on the plus side, that'll take a lot of time!
My ideal trip would be taking PCH up to San Francisco, stopping at friends' places on the way and catching a Cal game. The only problem with that is that I live in Texas now, so getting to PCH is a bit more of a headache. First trip will probably be some Hill Country outing.
EDIT: PCH - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Coast_Highway_(California)

Lucky, i went to my dealer and they still have nothing for me re: my week 36 :(
Although they had two JCW Coopers sitting there fully loaded to the hilt. Both with a $43K price tag!!!! Dealer was marking it up $4k above MSRP + options. Putting the price aside, just made me itch that much more for my MCS.

I called Ask MINI this morning and got a completion date of Sept 2 (Happy Birthday to her!) AND a bee-yoo-tiful VIN #.
The nice Ask MINI lady was quite informative. She confirmed that after the birthing, Millie would have to wait for a boat, which could still mean I don't get her until early October.

Same with Mr Ray, I have scheduled completion date of 9/2.
I wonder how long it takes to go from factory to the dock? According to WW schedule, there are ships departing for NYCPOA on 9/4, 9/6 and 9/8. If it makes on to the ship 9/4, I can expect to get the Mini as early as the 3rd week of Sept.!!

Agh! MINI hates me! Not only has it not started production yet (and won't till the 1st), the ASK-MINI rep said it would go to Port Hueneme and then BACK here to Texas. I'm hoping these are all dirty lies so all you guys don't get jealous about how quickly it'll actually show up.
