Plastidip is a product that is sold at Home Depot and you are correct...it is used to dip Screwdriver handles etc. It comes in a can that you can dip, but it also comes in a spray version. There is a thread on this somewhere that I read awhile back.
It is super easy to use. I removed the grill surround and the headlight rings. You then clean the chrome with windex and start spraying. I did 4 coats each 30 minutes apart.
It dries in a Matte black finish that is almost identical to the fender flares plastic around the wheels.
I will take some more photos and try to find the thread, but it is cool if you want to do something different and cover that chrome.

I got my vanity plates put on over the holiday. I can't believe what I got was still available. I'll post pictures as soon as it stops raining here...

Just checking in with my fellow Week 40ers.
3,200 miles and Stella's in the body shop today. I was driving through a parking lot the other day and somebody backed out of parking spot right into the passenger's side. It was a pretty solid impact (because he wasn't looking and never laid off the gas), but to my surprise, the door is so flexible that it only left a minor dent and some paint damage. Messed up the alignment too though.
Now, I'm driving some Suzuki that I don't think even has power steering...
Anybody else got any tales? ...hopefully better ones!

Thanks! The whole process has been really quick and tidy (thanks Geico!) so far. They are supposed to call me with a delivery estimate this afternoon.
Hey hooknew, I haven't seen you around yet, but my wife said she saw your Clubbie. That's the car she wants: hot chocolate and silver Clubman. I noticed there's another MY/B one just like mine with bonnet stripes around town. The only difference I noticed at a glance is that the other one doesn't have driving lamps.

Brown Collision Center on 29. They have a partnership with both Geico and my insurance company (State Farm). They seem pretty reputable and Geico guarantees the work for as long as I own the car.

I'm at about half your mileage (not bad for less than a month ) and love driving her. Haven't named her yet though...but she certainly deserves a name! The only issue I'm having is a squeak somewhere in the back seat area that is driving me batty...tried all the doors, seats, etc...just means I have to drive with the stereo louder I guess . What a fun car to drive and soon you can kick that Suzuki curbside and get back to Motoring with Stella.
______________________ Update:
I found the thread on the squeak fix and now I'm going to put a little lube on the rear seat latch, whew! What a great group!

Thanks! I should get her back today around lunchtime. They were pretty speedy and very easy to work with.
Congrats on fixing your squeak. Now, I'll know what to do if I hear it. I've got a tiny vibration around the secret compartment when I throttle of and the engine revs a little deeper, but it may just be what's in my secret compartment making the noise. Hasn't bothered me enough to look into it yet.
