Rosemary talked to a fill in MA and they cannot tell us were Mini Rose is. There are only a 3 hour drive from the VDC. We are supposed to leave on vacation on Sunday. And now there are reports of Mini's showing up all over the country. Not a happy soon to be Mini owner.

okay, i finally got around to posting a few pics in my gallery! i picked Phineas up on Monday (10/20) and we've been having a blast ever since. it's hard to stay below 4500 RPMS during the break-in period, but i've been able to do it despite Phineas' attempts to get me to stomp the gas.

Don & Rose, good luck. Drive by the dealer...it may be sitting there. My car arrived at the dealer today. If the weather cooperates I'll pick it up tomorrow...supposed to storm here. Otherwise I'll pick it up Saturday. Keep us posted...

Draik! I'm picking up this afternoon as well! Good luck to you buddy...hope you have an easy transaction. The weather is for crap here but it's supposed to clear between 3 & 5. May as well get it's tires wet...gotta happen sooner or later...enjoy!

Oh Rosemary, this is heartbreaking. Have you spoken with the manager of the dealership? They need to be tracking Mini Rose down- My guess is that someone transposed a number on your VIN and your car ended up at another dealership. If your dealership can verify that Mini Rose got OFF the boat, then the VDC made the mistake, and it would simply be a case of finding out which dealership that gets vehicles from that VDC got an "extra" one...
At least that's how my semi logical brain works-
I've got lots of hope that Mini Rose will be coming to you in a flash- and that you'll get to drive so quickly.

Our MA told us the first of the week that it had left the VDC on the 21st. Yesterday he said it was not at the dealer and they were trying to find out if it really did not leave the VDC. My fear is that if it has been there this long then something bad has happened to Mini Rose. Our hope is the VDC is just over loaded and they just have not got to her yet. And the dealer was wrong when they said it had left. Just seems hard to understand how it could go missing.

If y'all were me.... I'd be going further up the food chain- i.e., the GM of your dealership would be a start- forget the OL (which is not only often but also USUALLY wrong), calling CRACKPIPE won't do much good as they don't follow the cars after they've left the plant. You can indicate that you're going to get ugly to the dealership- especially since you've now ordered a second car with them.
I'd also call MINI USA and ask to speak with a someone in management, not just the peon who answers the phone. I would explain what is going on, that you do not seem to be getting proper information from your dealership and in fact, you're getting information that your car has been LOST. I'd be nice here- let them know you've ordered a second car which is in production (I think) and you are now extremely worried about the customer service your dealership is giving you.
What you're trying to do is play something like good cop/bad cop - You want MINI USA to love you and bend over backwards to figure out where your car is... You want your dealership to realize that you've got a lot of power over their future sales and their rankings within MINI USA.
JMHO, and I won't be offended if you don't take my suggestions (especially since you didn't ask for them!) - I tend to get pro-active when I get p.o.'d... and having been in marketing & advertising, I realize the importance of customer service. A disgruntled customer can absolutely ruin a business as word of mouth advertising is the best advertising anyone can get- but it works both ways- If the dealership thinks you're going to go around and say "I LOVE my mini, but XYZ dealership is Awful- let me tell you why, and if you're considering getting a MINI go to ABC dealership" - your dealership will lose business and MINI USA CAN pull their dealership priveledges.
