Welcome Bob!

I love those old MGs, too. My husband used to have one, before we were married. Unfortunately, it rarely ran... We had at least a couple of memorable adventures that ended with a third-party rescue after the MG mysteriously 'died'. But is sure was a great-looking (and sounding!) car...

LOL!!! Thanks for the offer. Do you have the status on your car? Is it in the VDC now?

Yes I love my MG's but cannot wait for a modern car. My main driver has been the 73 roadster and it is on its 2nd engine and 3rd rebuild. It stranded me 2 years ago on my way back from Sonoma, California and the National MG meet that year and then last March when I was on my way back from a British car event in Arizona. Both times I had to rent a u-haul truck and trailer to get home. It has been running great with the new engine and I drove it to Valley Forge and back this summer for this years National MG Meet with no issues but when I got home I decided that it was just time to finally break down and get a new MINI. I had been looking at them since they first came out & the dealer supports our multi-marque events so I already had a relationship with them & I knew the sales staff for a long time. They were supprised when I pulled the trigger.

On another completely totally unrelated note: do any of U coloradoans know if one can transfer license plates from one vehicle to another?? (for example my R53s plates to my R56) Or do I have to buy all new plates?

Yep, you can transfer them, and I'm pretty positive on that point. The plate applies to the driver rather than the vehicle, hence the reason that you're supposed to keep you plate when you sell your car. You should just have to take the plates in when you register the vehicle to prove to the County Clerk that you do indeed have the plates and that you don't need to purchase new ones.

Not yet... Western Highway is still lolly-gagging around Baltimore. ETA for Charleston is not until Oct 16...

So - you'll just have to give us a blow-by-blow account of the first encounter and take a LOT of pics for us...

Yep, there's a lot to be said for push-button and go! My hubby's MG was NEVER that...but he wasn't much of a mechanic, either, and I think you almost have to be with those cars.

You have a Harley? I was shopping for a motorcycle just before my last car began to leak oil faster than I could fill it. It was a car or a motorcycle. TOOOOO cold and snowy in winter for a motorcycle so I went with the car. I still have the helmet and boots so I do see a Harley in my future.

Yep. Here's me somewhere around Rabbit Ears Pass heading to Steamboat Springs in late June 2007. That's my brother's Heritage Softail in the background.

It's been my only transportation since mid-July when I sold my Wrangler, and it will continue to be such until I take delivery some time in early November.

I highly recommend it. It's like therapy on two wheels. If you haven't already, take a rider safety course. Once you do that, you'll not be able to resist getting a bike of your own...oh, and the safety learning is always a good thing, too.

Here it is loaded up and at Lolo Summit, Montana, while I was traveling to an academic conference from Boulder to Seattle, Washington. It had just started snowing. God, I want to do that again...

Thanks! I've been pretty happy with it. Just wish I had more time to ride instead of needing to be strapped to my desk at work all the bleepin' time.

I went by Schomp last night and gave them my dealer options list, They have a lot of MINI program cars on the lot that were begging to be adopted. We are supposed to go through the Panama Canal tomorrow but I could not find the ship listed on the Canal web site.

NICE!!! I had signed up for safety classes and had to cancel them. There is always next year.
