Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Is it here yet?

Is it just me, or does it seem like Christopher Columbus was able to cross the Atlantic faster than the Elektra?

I probably have to wait till the weekend as well. Unless I can convince my wife to be "sick" during the week.

Workload permitting, I'm probably going to take a day off and do some well deserved motoring. I'm already thinking about some local backroads with some twists and turns, and I'm going to burn a new cd just for the occasion.

Maximus96 and WYSIWHG will know this area, I'm thinking Palomares Road and Redwood Road will be nice for my first drive.

I don't mind at all..... this is working out well for my OCMD https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=143236

I think I'll take the day off to pick up my MINI when she's ready to come home.

palomares road is a very nice road with plenty of twisties...and a portion of it was recently fixed few weeks ago by the city of hayward. it was actually my project...

I'm sure I'll run Palomares and Redwood Roads a few times. That's where I did the majority of my break-in on my Ducati Hypermotard. I much prefer the coastal mountain roads, though, like Hwy 9, Skyline, and Hwy 84. I'll be taking it up to the Sierra Foothills rather soon, too. Hwy 4 past Copperopolis is like a kart track.

BTW, we're approaching the Azores. Looks like we're making pretty good time and there's very little tropical activity in the Atlantic right now (knock on wood). Keep your fingers crossed...

I am SO ready for the ship to sail in.

I just finally sold my 4Runner after trying six weeks of craigslist, autotrader, car brokers, countless offers for money order scams, low-ballers, and flakers. The buyer was genuinely happy to get my truck, and and I was happy to sell it.

Now I must borrow other people's cars until I get that call from my dealer to pick up my MINI. I'm figuring 3 weeks from now.

Thanks for allowing me to rant.

I'm hoping its 3 weeks too. I also just sold my 96 maxima. Luckily I was able to get rid of it in less than a week. I'm still patting myself for selling a 12 year old car with 154k miles for $4200

Not a problem. That's what we are here for

We spent almost 4 months selling our car. It was frustrating.

I have been sharing an Odyssey with my wife, shuffling back and forth, for 2 months now. Can't wait for the still unnamed Mini to arrive!

Hang in there!

Just found out that my car was on board it too. The status jumped from 'pre-production' to actually being transported. I've got to admit, it was a pleasant surprise.

...And now my attention span on the whole car buy has gone from casually patient to massive OCD with me checking the shippment map at sail.wx a few times a day. *cough*

I'm sure you know this but sailwx only updates every 6 hours. So try to get some sleep tonight.

I didn't know that! So, if it updates every 6 hours, when are the updates for Pacific Daylight Time?

Yeah, it appears we're nearing land, Puerto Rico to be exact. I don't know about the rest of you, but the wait seems exponentially longer day by day.

Can somebody pick up some Presidente beer on your way past the Dominican Republic? Dang, but that stuff is good, especially ice cold. In Santiago, they freeze the bottles in barrels of ice, and then chip them out with an ice pick. I'll bring the crab cakes from the Caribbean Highway's stop in Baltimore, and we'll make it a MINI homecoming party!

Hola Shipmates!

I'm on board Elektra as well. I really appreciate all of the methods of tracking the ship that some of you have provided. It makes this waiting time even more fun. Now I just have to sell my SUV to someone. Wish me luck

Just passed the Dominican Republic now. Panama canal will be soon.

I guess its time to start looking for web cameras at the canal and see if we can catch our boat going by

Elektra is currently in the Caribbean Sea . She should be arriving in the Panama canal around 10am Pacific time this Sunday based on this schedule
http://www.boydsteamship.com/daily_traffic_report.htm

For those who got time to burn (myself included), this is the time to familiarize yourself with how the system work.
http://www.pancanal.com/eng/general/...como-tour.html

And you can actually see her in action early Monday morning as scheduled on one of these web cams
http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

These links were taken from the "How to track" thread. I hope the thread starter wouldn't mind.

Enjoy!

Nice birdies taken from the Miraflores webcam just a few minutes ago . Pretty amazing .

I believe there is a few folks discussing about what kind of bird they are in one of the threads I came across a while ago but can't find right now.
