Hello from California!
Hi all,
I'm really excited at the thought of getting a brand new MINI in the coming months. I'm going in for my first test drive Wednesday. I'm planning on getting a Clubman (non-S). I'm a pretty big guy (6'1", 265 lbs.) so I hope the MINI will fit a guy like me (I don't look obese, I just have a monstrously wide frame and giant tree trunk legs from playing college hockey awhile back). My brother, who is roughly the same size as me (we run big in my family I guess), has been trying to get me to switch over to a Honda Fit (his daily driver for his 2006 Pontiac GTO 6.0L V8).
Currently, I drive 2 different 5.7L V8 gas guzzling beasts. A 1996 GMC Suburban with a 6" lift (hey, I bought it and lifted it when gas was $1.50 a gallon and I was playing college hockey for a school in the deep snow... still gets 14 MPG on the freeway though! Haha) and a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Collector Edition convertible (31 MPG on the freeway.... 15 MPG around town...).
I've been looking to downsize for awhile now, but I'm really excited to order my pepper white Mini Cooper Clubman with black trim, 6 speed manual, tuscany interior and dual pane sunroof.
Just thought I'd say hi and that I'm excited to be a part of the forums!

Welcome, and enjoy your test drive.
Yes, you will fit. You will also be amazed at the room inside (for at least the two front passengers). I am 6'4", 275, and I was surprised at the roominess of the cabin when I took my test drive. I now have an 09 MCS on order and should be motoring before Halloween. My wife still has not seen one up close, and she still thinks I will be very uncomfortable with this as a daily driver. Can't wait to take her for a spin. Even though she is not a car nut, I believe she will thoroughly enjoy the MINI once it's in the garage.
And thus, the MINI Paradox - small outside, big inside.

Welcome to the wacky world of MINIs and their equally wacky enthusiasts!
I'm pretty sure you'll fit in the MINI nicely. I've got a wide frame too, and my 5' 9" 205 lb. body has ample room. I took the car on it's first long trip the other day and I was happy to learn that it's extremely comfortable on long rides. My passenger also felt the same way, remarking that there was a lot of legroom. Get the center armrest; it's a nice rest for your elbow and it can be folded out of the way when you don't need it.
Good luck with your test drive. I know I was hooked the moment I took the wheel in hand and hit the pavement! Keep us posted...

Alright, sounds good to me then! I was more worried about my width than my height, but based on all the responses, it doesn't sound like it'll be a problem after all.
Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone! I can't wait for that test drive!
