Here is an interesting website with FAQs about the whole process. Just scroll down on the home page that comes up.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_delivery

Also one from North American Motoring with pictures at Port Hueneme

Did a cargo check by booking number and there are 388 MINI's on board the Traviata. Wonder if they are all for Port Hueneme or if some are going on to Japan which is the ships next stop after Port Hueneme.

There might be some for the PANAMA. PORT MANZANILLO, which is the next scheduled stop for Traviata. But it would be even cooler if all 388 were coming here: 388 MINI brothers and sisters to waive to on American roads

In case you were wondering how much farther to the canal from the last reported position

Find Distance and Azimuths Between 2 Sets of Coordinates -- Results

Distance between

N Latitude 45 6 0.00, W Longitude 27 24 0.00 (Point 1)

and N Latitude 9 19 0.00, W Longitude 79 55 0.00 (Point 2)

6383.386 kilometers; 3966.452 miles

Azimuth from point 1 to point 2 = 248.33°
Azimuth from point 2 to point 1 = 41.66°

Another Distance Computation?

She's half way to Cuba. Maybe the capt. could swing into port real quick and fill the car with some Cohiba's

What the hell happened to Traviata? Where is it going? Is it turning around? . According to http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=SFRZ
it was going south-east instead of south-west for the last 6 hours.

Or maybe fell asleep at the wheel..... At 1800 they were again making 20 knots in the right direction with about 2900 miles to go. BTW it is about 3300 miles from the canal to Port Hueneme...... Keep the shaft turning we're getting there.

You also might want to consider that the ship needs to make a pretty sharp turn south to make the Panama canal.

There are also trade-winds to consider, though I'm not sure what that would even mean.

At the bottom of the picture ic Colon, that is in Panama. If you look at the map it's kicking up 66 mph winds. More wind = bigger waves. There going to go around and come up the backside to keep the cargo from rockin to much. Now mind you this storm is still picking up speed and energy. All the models say it'll be out of the way by Thursday. which is why l think she's coming up the back.

Looks like she is making good progress.

If you zoom out you can see the Carribean in the lower left corner is getting closer.

I think the glitch in the position report was a bad entry as all after seem to be on the exact same line as before the anomaly. <13 days to Port Hueneme

OH iam just so glad to see the little red dot moving consistently. I only wish it would move FASTER!!!!!.
By the way the first 2009s (week 36) that arrived to the East cost are still at the VDC. The rumor is that they haven't passed the EPA testing yet. So maybe by the time Traviata gets to CA everything is going to be figured out and we will get to meet our MINIs very shortly

A friend of ours who has a beamer said when it came into New York it took quite a while to get through the VDC. New York changed some of their EPA requirements was the cause of it. California hasn't changed anything for quite some time now so we should process just fine. I checked ito the owners lounge today and it has changed addresses and did not appear to have all thhe order info on my MCS..... ?????
