First post, just want to say Hi !
This is my first post and my first Mini Cooper. Wanted one for years and finally the wife said I wasnt getting any younger so I bought a used 2005 Mini. I love it. I live in Niagara Falls Canada and put about 120 kilometres a day on it all highway. It's amazing the way it handles. No problems yet but winter is coming and I have to get some snow tires. I will find out soon what it's like in the snow. This site is amazing with all of the info on it. I spend allot of time reading the articles, time I could be driving the mini. Any way gotta go time to wash the car...again !

Thanks
AWE Southern California. Would I love to be there right now. Winters moving in and it's getting CHILLLLLLY up here !
Thanks for all of the posts welcoming me to Nam.
Coming home from a hard day of delivering my favorite beverage "BEER"
and a stone took out my windshield on the highway Tues.
WOW $900.00 for Mini to replace it. It's heated and has a rain sensor in it.
What a way to end a day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll have to shop around. There has to be a cheaper place to get it replaced.

I miss the snow but I dont miss the salt on the roads and all the rocks getting thrown around when I was growing up in MI. The San Diego WX is nice and I love being able to drive fast everywhere and still just be in the flow of traffic.
Hope you find a cheaper place to get that window fixed. Maybe you can deliver some beer out here. mmmmmm beer

Welcome to NAM from MIddle Georgia Minis!! No snow here, at least I hope not. I've replaced two windshields because of rocks. I used Safelite and they did a great job. Most replacement glass Co. will be far cheaper than dealer installs. Good luck and I wish you many trouble free miles and many new adventures in your MINI.

Welcome to NAM. hmmm... The Mini in the snow sounds like fun. Sounds like an easy way to learn how the car really handles while sliding. If I'm ever in a snowy area I'll have to find a big empty parking lot and have some fun. Down here in Southern Louisiana we do not get much snow, but we have and get a hell of a lot of water courtesy of the Gulf and Mother Nature.*

First of all, WELCOME to NAM!
As you already know, there's a wealth of information to be found here, and it's a fun place to kick back and chew the fat (and enjoy a brew...IPA is my weakness) with other enthusiasts when you can't be in your MINI or have to be indoors.
Secondly, I'm sorry to hear about your windshield. Cars like the MINI and others with more vertically-oriented windscreens (how's that for Brit speak?) such as the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Honda Element seem to be prone to breakage. Rocks tend to do more damage, and are less likely to skip off the glass without creating a star or crack. My experience has shown that giving yourself a little more room behind the car in front of you helps, but nothing is going to stop random stones from heading your way. I hope you can find a cheaper replacement for the glass than the price you were originally quoted!
Anyway, enjoy the ride and glad you found us!

Hey thats so cool that all these people are so addicted to minis (i just got my nam account working). (my dad and i ) We are so addicted to our mini its like we wouldnt know what to do in our spare time without it!! before with our jeep we couldnt go do much but off roading (extreamly fun but 10 min. of off roading = 2 weeks of getting clay off) and with our mini we can go on drives for fun!! and not even have to worry about gass or anything!! p.s. this is my first post!!
I ♥ my (dads) mini
