Apraisal, Protocol?

Hello-

First post for me here but not my first visit. This site has been invaluable for me learning the ins and outs of my Mini.

It is now time for me to sell my Mini and I was hoping to ask for an appraisal. Many web-sites frown on this and I do not want to break any rules. Is it ok to ask for an appraisal and if OK what forum section should I ask?

I'm not sure how anyone could provide a meaningful "appraisal" over the internet, without seeing and driving the car. Kelley Blue Book online will give you some idea of its worth. Taking it to CarMax or someplace similar (if you have one locally) will give you a minimum value. You could even call a MINI dealer...they might be willing to look at the car and make an offer, just to get a used car on their lot.

I think you'll be fine asking for input from NAM members, go ahead and post all the details.

You can also upload your info to www.caroffer.com it's Pepboys and they'll get you an offer in 24 hours.

I just sold mine to CARMAX, thier offer was better than Pepboys, and the dealer; I would have liked more, but it was quick and painless.

Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the advise I just filled out the caroffer.com form

The main reason for my question is I have a 2003 S with John Cooper Works Navi, leather, Black on Black, 9 out of a 10 in condition etc and it is hard to get an Idea on what it is worth. 45000 miles detailed monthly and oil every 5K, all records, after market warranty to 85000 miles. I can find values for S versions but not JCW packages and I am not sure what to ask.

I understand it is hard to obtain values without seeing it in person but a general idea with a given description should get me started.

where should I post on this forum to get an idea

I would start here and change the title of your post to Feeler: 03 JCW

Also on KBB, the JCW is not listed as a model but is is listed as an option, at least it did for my 06.
