Newbie Here
Hi Everyone,
Been lurking here for a couple of weeks learning about Minis and how enthusiastic everyone here is about them. This is certainly a great place to pick up tips and advice on everything MINI.
Took my first test drive in a base Cooper yesterday. The dealership had a nice little route that took us on some twisty roads and the freeway. I'd never even sat in a Mini before, let alone got to drive one. I was blown away by the roominess, solidness (is that a word?), and the handling of the little guy. Since it was raining, I took it easy on the corners, but was impressed by the acceleration on the freeway on-ramp. This is the car I want. Now, if the stock market will just start cooperating soon, I'll be in business. I'm surprised that I can get a cheaper price by ordering a new one to my specifications rather than buying one off the lot - even a used one! I've never ordered a car before, so this will be an adventure. Since this will be mostly a commuting car, I think I'll stay with the base model. It had plenty of pep for me and I'm looking at gas mileage coupled with the fun factor. My wife is also supportive, just have to get the $$$ figured out. Since she wasn't with me, it'll give me the chance to take another test drive with her! Can't wait....
