Someone said earlier that some of these beauties can carry upwards of 3700 cars at a time.
Faust is one of the bigger roro ships, with a capacity of about 7500. The "little" Sierra Nevada Highway, that my Clubman is on now, is limited to "only" 4300, if I recall correctly.

Sorta boggles my small mind.

Wow, 7500 cars on one ship. That's a lot of cheesed off customers if something bad happens in middle of the Atlantic. *touches wood*

Woohoo, just found out today that our MC convertible is also on the Sierra Nevada Highway. Should be in Charleston on 3/26 I believe, and then here in D/FW by early April.

For all of us on the Faust I found this on the boat from the Discovery Channel

part one - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131473

part two - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131461

part three - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131482

part four - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131494

part five - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131495

part six - http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...st/#clip131498

I've just started watching it myself, looks pretty interesting.

Glad you've got some interesting watching Steveski Sadly, for those outside of Canada, Discovery won't play the video (I'm sure the same for discovery.com video for those outside the US).

Side-rant: I hate region-locking video like this.

I hate region locking of the net. Usually I'm the one getting blocked trying to access US material, but I'm not pleased to find out it happens the other way too.

Any way. I found this AOL video link. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/mi...t-1/1184677986 it's to the first part and the other 5 are up there too. I hope this one can work for you Americans. I just finished watching it and I am very impressed in the way this whole transport part goes off. Must be a tough life for the crew, the shifts are 10 weeks on 10 weeks off.

Edit: Bah, the AOL page just links back to the CDN Discovery site. Don't bother.

Is it too soon for me to start whining about not being able to "see" the TORRENS yet? I woulda thunk we coulda seen her by now.

Yeah, when my brother was in Scotland for a semester we tried to work around the region checks but no luck there either. That 10 weeks on/10 weeks off does sound like it could be rough.

In happier news, the Torrens ought to be closing in on Halifax now.

Funny, I was just writing that the Torrens docked this morning (5:30 UTC - so I think that's 1:30 EST).

No idea when they'll start unloading and I haven't found a departure time for her.

Well, perhaps it's actually 16:30 EST? Torrens is still in Halifax and still listed on schedule via the WW schedule PDF.

My MINI is on the Topeka. Once it gets to California, it'll have to get on yet another boat to make it's last leg to Hawaii.

But at least you've got one already, that's gotta make the wait easier.

I just came back from my business trip and cathing up on all our freighters. I see Torrens has docked. Guess it is still on schedule for NY/NJ. I go away on a trip and come back...and well...still waiting . These days not ticking off fast enough !!
