SWEET. Thanks for the tracking info. I found my car, loaded on the boat, awaiting the ship to leave port! It is the 17 Mar boat, expected ETA to US port is 31 Mar, with delivery to my dealer in Oklahoma City 3 April. I get home on midtour leave 8 April. Talk about a nice little present to myself!

There are no wires in the front glass. The forced-air heater/defroster is standard, but the heated washer jets and heated mirrors come in a cold-weather package at extra charge, along with heated front seats.

I wanted the climate control and heated seats, but was not willing to budge on the sunroof. Oh well, I didn't really make good use of the auto climate control on my WRX when I had it so manual climate settings are fine. Heated seats would have been nice but it was less important than the roof thing.
I went to a dealership a couple of weeks ago to try to kill the itch as well but all it did was make me want my car more...then we had the local international auto show and I went to go check out the new rides as well as the MINI display. Unfortunately, they didn't have any JCWs there which shocked me, and the local dealership staff recognized me and joked that they were going to start charging me rent if I keep showing up at their events and stuff.

OLarryR - I'm still curious to the answer about how the fobs will handle the water exposure. Let us know if you find out somewhere else.
Perihelion - I can't blame you for going back for your MINI fix. I don't know how you've waited this long. I've never test driven one, but I imagine a JCW is worth the wait

Bogs,
I think I saw a posting elsewhere in the Forums that someone indicated he dropped his FOB in water and it then did not work. But after he dried it (not sure with what...hairdryer ?) then it worked okay. If I remember, I'll try and search for FOB postings tomorrow.
I also wanted to get a repair manual for the 2009 model(s). I do not know if any are out yet for this year's model but I believe I saw some posting(s) about repair manual recommendations awhile ago on one of the other Forums.
Sometime tomorrow...goin to be checking on the charts to see if Topeka shows up yet !

Was hoping for a webcam as well, but all I could find were for the cruise/passenger ships. If you find one, let me know. Would love to watch one of these ships pull in

Does anyone know the process when the ship lands? I looked back at some of the earlier deliveries from Southampton. In some cases, they appeared to be unloaded and then just hung around for days (sometimes many) before being discharged.
Was all excited that the car made it to Charleston but now I'm afraid excitement was a bit premature.
Thoughts?

The following link has postings regarding the FOB and water submergence. The gist of it is: One guy took it surfing and then immediately dried it afterwards and it still worked. Another accidentally cleaned it in the washing machine (obviously in clothing) and seemed to indicate it did not work....$385 to replace. Sounds like it is best to avoid submerging it in water.

I think it's only $385 if you've got the Comfort Access (keyless entry) option. The regular fob is less (just don't know how much less).
