New MINI driver in CO

Wow, this forum is great. I've been watching it for a while and now that I am committed to buying a Mini, it's time to make that first post!

Up until this point I was a hardcore VW enthusiast. My husband and I both retain older (mid 90s) VWs as daily drivers. The short version of how we wound up with a Mini is that we had a 2009 VW GTI as an autocross vehicle but it got totaled, so we began searching for something that would be a solo car first and an occasional backup driver second.

We found Brian Black's NAMCC track car and loved it! We had looked at the Dodge SRT-4, another VW, BMW E36 M3, and several other models but the Mini in general was always there as a legitimate option and this car really jumped out at us. We'll be pulling the trigger sometime this upcoming week.

I'm looking forward to learning more about these awesome cars and getting more involved with this site, which is absolutely incredible. A true enthusiast's dream, for sure!

I'm still waiting for my little Mini, but my other car is my autocross car. Do the two of you do the SCCA autocrosses? One coming up next Saturday at PPIR.

Brian's MINI was pretty hot. I'm sorry he ended up selling it, but now you got it so down one, up one and all is even.
Yes, please do check out our club at www.MINI5280.org or our forum here on NAM or even our new Facebook site at: MINI5280
We do have a club meeting this week on Tuesday over at the Fox & Hound on Bowles if you get a chance.

We'll try to make it to the meetup on Tuesday. I'm closing on a new house next week so things are pretty hectic right now but maybe a laid-back evening of food and drinks is just what we need!

The first Autox we'll be going to is the one on March 29 at ****'s. Won't have the new car ready in time for the PPIR event. Also going to Nationals in Farmington, NM; Eagle County Airport in Vail; and the Championships in Lincoln. Should be fun. Any other Mini drivers planning these? Perhaps we can caravan to the sites.

We're also planning to do the Yellowstone trip; unfortunately, Nationals in Farmington are the same day as the Black Hills trip.

um ... here on NAM you can't say you are going to ****'s. You should use his given name instead and say you are going to Richard's.

Stupid prudeware!

Well, the "****" is the name of a sporting goods store that sponsors the Colorado Rapids and has their name on the soccer park (http://www.dickssportinggoodspark.com/) where we run some of our autocrosses. Just wouldn't be the same using Richard.

I was surprised that it let the URL pass its test.
