MINI Newbie - PDX

Hello all. This seems like a decent discussion list - thanks for that.

MINIs are new to me. One of my amateur rocketry buds and his dad are hard-core classic MINI restorers - it's always been a shrug in terms of interest for me. My wife once owned a MINI classic too - way before I met her - she sold it to a movie producer...yawn.

I'm gonna buy a CooperS because they are cool looking and the engineering looks right - I've been partial to BMW motorcycles for decades, so I know what I want.

My MINI is gonna get gutted for an EV conversion - my wife favors this vs. the pusher trike concept I've been working on which really represents a much superior appilation for EV efficiency - the Cooper is a pig in comparison, but much more appealing in many other ways.

So, how do I move forward on securing a host? I can be swayed on what is purchased if there is interest in spares for a particular year. Do you think I can shed 800-lbs if I keep the gearbox only, but parted out everything else? She needs to remain DOT compliant and maintain OEM looks for exterior only.

Help me out...
