Yet another new MINI Cooper S owner! :-) and Q: Recaro child seats?

Hello!

I'm just bought an R53 2006 Mini Cooper S from a friend of mine. With just 29,000 on the clock and an owner who was nearly OCD about maintenance and cleaning, I feel like I got a stunning cherry of a car!

Tremendous fun to drive. Just two days into ownership I'm already totally in love. I think her name is Pepper.

I've been lurking and reading on the forums here for a couple weeks as we put together the deal (and my friend got his next car). My thanks to all the regulars over the years who have posted so much great information and tutorials. NAM=awesomeness.

I'd like to start out with a question that I couldn't find answered in the forums yet -- does anyone know if Recaro's Signo child seat fits in the rear seat of the R53? My wife and I have our first child on the way in a few months and I've read that not all child seats fit into a Cooper, so I thought I'd see if anyone has experience with this one!

Thank you!

--Robert

and here's Pepper, sorry for the low-quality phone photo!

The signo is huge FYI......I have one and its even bigger in rear facing form. A fanstastic seat though and I wouldnt buy a different seat for anything but.....its big.

It will fit but Id limit its use to after the child is forward facing its hard enough to get it in and out of the car without a child in it. Id think that using it with the child in the rear facing position is darn near impossible. Id go for a car seat that uses a base first. From experience my little boy is now 8mo. and 32in tall and 25 lbs. He just outgrew his 30/30 Peg Pergo Primo Viaggio which is a base system we loved it and it worked great, but never put it in the mini.

We have the Recaro in my RDX and its big even in there. Forward facing would make it much easier to deal with in the mini after the one year mark.

That's just the sort of info i was hoping to glean. Sounds like I should hold off ordering one for a few months yet.

Thank you!
