Tires

I am getting ready to get new tires for my 07 Cooper. Is there anything I need to do to the TPMS on the wheels. Was told by on places that they needed to rebuild them when they put the tires on.

Do you really have TPMS sensor in your 07 MINI? The came in late 07 and with the 08's.

Not sure you have to rebuild, someone looking for a little extra cash from you I suspect.

So far I have remounted new tires on my 08 three times already (worn out) and I did not have to rebuild the TPMS yet. So far they work fine.

If you have TPMS (see old81 post) and need to rebuild, I know there is a kit available for about $20-$25 for all four TPMS.

I am runnning Michelin Pilot A/S PLUS (the PLUS is important as the regular Pilot A/S is an inferior tire) on my '09 MCS convertible and love them. Check out reviews, tests at tirerack.com These are V rated with 45,000 mile tread warranty. These are NOT run flats so I have a compressor and sealant (Con ti Comfort Kit from Tire Rack) on board but the ride and low noise is great. I will never get 45k miles but as long as I rotate and balance every 7,500 miles the warranty is prorated and this makes the $180 price tag looks pretty good compared to the near $300 for a run flat.
