I think that may be a reservation system of some sort. Scroll down a few pages and you will see they the ETA for hundreds of ships - all the way into 2010. Obviously, those times can't be accurate. I think the 8:00 am time I was given by my Wallenius Wilhelmsen contact is the best for right now - but, it will probably change by tomorrow.

Ray, could you get her to tell us what's with the Faust parked for > 1 day, or at least ask for the Sat-Phone number so I can just call the captain directly?

Here is the Sat-Phone number you requested.

Yes, that is a good show. I saw it on the National Geographic channel awhile back - before I knew I'd ever be looking forward to seeing the ship carrying my new MINI making the passage.

I just now realized that Manzanillo is on the Pacific side of Panama. Thus, the 8:00 am time I was given for arriving there (really, just passing by that checkpoint) may be correct - and the 3:00 am estimated ETA you found on page 8 of the Atlantic Arrival Schedule may be correct too. But, according to the Panama Canal Authority, it takes 8 to 10 hours to cross Panama. Thus, at least one of those times is wrong since they are just 5 hours apart.

After watching that National Geographic video, it is clear that ships willing to pay a premium get highest priority for passing thru the canal. Thus, it may be possible that the Porgy is getting close to arriving at the Gatun Locks (3 am there = 1 am here in Washington), and may just scoot to the head of the line. I doubt I stay up to watch the webcams. I just checked the Vesseltracker.com web site (which has a 1 to 2 hours delay) and I see no sign of the Porgy.

I was surprised to hear the Ro-Ro car carriers pay over $200,000 for passage - but, when you consider the Porgy can hold over 6,000 cars, the cost per vehicle is only $35 or so.

hi to all! 1st post, longtime lurker. went to the dealer on 09/01 to order a cooper s w/ sport pkg but MA found me an 09 already on a ship. it's a pure silver; sport, premium and & cold weather pkg. found out later it was out of the factory 8/19 and loaded into the udine same day. no idea on prod date. hope to pick it up in a few days!

The ship locations on the Vesseltracker.com site are supposed to be delayed just 1 to 2 hours for those of us who signed up for a free membership (24 hour delay otherwise). But, all the ship locations are 8 hours old. Thus, there is no sign of the Porgy yet. If the Porgy is supposed to be at Manzanillo by 8 am, she needs to be starting thru the Guatan locks pretty quick. I am not going to stay up all night looking for her, but it is just 10 pm here so I will look in every few minutes for the next couple hours.

Welcome - better late than never! Your MINI was caught up in the factory closure during the first two weeks of August - your car was completed about when most of the people on this thread were just getting started.

Glad you found an '09 that had what you wanted - but, you sure missed out on a lot of exciting moments (along with some frustrations) by not getting to follow your MINI through the production process!

So I think I'm the only one left that cares about the ELEKTRA? Well for whatever reason she's not on the Halifax or Port of NY/NJ schedules, but she is indeed in Halifax. A tug just finished pushing her to berth and now it's leaving.

I am not sure if you know there is another thread that we make posts as well.

Well, the Porgy is on Vesseltracker but not on any of the other two tracking sites. She is heading into Colon harbor at 2:30 local.

Yawnnnnnn.....! Good morning all. Figured I'd get a good night's rest since today will probably be spent for hours on end staring at this computer for updates.

In the past few weeks I've become very VIN-literate (thanks to Google). The 10th digit of the VIN represents the year 8='08, 9='09, but A='10. Here's a cheatsheet for you.

In the immortal words of Rudolph....."READY SANTA!!"

They scooted my little fella into Faust within 10 minutes of the first one.

Now that's exciting! One step closer to you. Hope you've made ready a nice spot in the garage.

Yes, welcome! I'm glad I took the plunge from lurker to poster. After all the prior readings, I felt like I already knew everybody.

There is such a vast amount of knowledge and, well quite frankly, ship stalking, on this forum that it's making the wait quite enjoyable.

Have to admit that I sure wouldn't want to cross RayRatt, UAL Kingpin or Y2K Falcon. I swear they could track down the true identities of people in the witness protection program.

Dash:

Faust departure time now pushed two hours backwards, 19:00 instead of 21:00. So... 4 hours from now? (someone check my math)

Then it will be time to say goodbye to our Mini's temporary home for the last several days watching the boats go by:

Ironically, the exact same time that the boat right next door in 36, the IRTYSH 1, is set to leave. Still may be daylight at 19:00 for the first two cams? Not sure it will still be bright enough by the time it gets to the Solent cam 1.25 hoursish later.

There is a 6 hour time difference between us (CST) and Southampton. They are are at 1610 now so that means in less than three hours there will be streamers flying off that ship to onlookers below as the Faust heads out for open waters.

Ummm... How is 10 (10:00 CST) + 4 hours = 16:10???

I think they are at 15:20 now, not 16. I think it's +5 to UTC, here in the Central time zone, not 4. We aren't really in much agreement here.

I could try calling them, if you thought that would help.
