I'm in with you guys!

Ordered Monday 8/17, after my MA said on Saturday 8/15 that they had no more order slots for a 2009 Clubman. So I must be one of the last ones to go on order? They got one in trade from another dealer so I faxed in my paperwork/downpayment Monday around 4pm.

Chili Red MCCS, leatherette, multi-function steering wheel, LSD, Chrome Line Interior, Roof/mirror caps black, center armrest, "Auto" climate, HiFi, Bluetooth/USB, Sport package.

Dealer is in San Antonio, so not sure how the shipping goes.... Guess I can ask the MA.

Status Summary
Current Status - In Production
8/17 Ordered 4pm
8/20 Production started 6:24am (is that England time?)
8/29 Estimated Completion
Ship Name: ???
Ship Departure Date: ???
Port Location: ???
Port Arrival Date: ???

Banannastand & Y2k Falcon

On your paperwork, what is the port of entry for your car?

I'm not sure of the port entry code (don't have the paperwork with me), but it should be coming in to NYC.

Funny you should mention entry port. I just emailed my MA about this (first time I bothered him so far). I signed the paper with my ordering specs pre-deposit, and then only saw a downpayment form which I faxed back to him. I'm about 90 miles from the nearest dealer, so the order didn't go in when I was there.

I don't think I saw a "Vehicle Inquiry Form" or whatever it is that the Port shows on. So I asked him about that.

I'm hopeful I have to worry about boats in about 7-9 days... haha

Since Banannastand [correction - I meant Y2K Falcon's MINI] was given an estimated completion date of August 29th, that would indicate the Oxford plant is operating on Saturdays again.

Actually, I'm est. 8/29. Banannastand is 8/26.

There's always money in the banannastand.

Put me on the list

I ordered my Mini Conv. S - sparkling silver, convenience pkg, cloth, black sport stripes, white turn signals, etc in late July...It's a 2010.

No idea when it might be built.

Heard that the HK stereo won't be in it though due to a glitch at the factory.

I'm jealous hearing people ordered and production started within days....

I was told by my MA that 2010 production would begin in early September. I have no idea if there is a big backlog of 2010 orders. That might be why those of us who ordered a 2009 MINI got into production so fast.

Trust me I wanted to order a 2009 when I walked in the door. Was told that they were unable to order any more 09's. They were all build out. Sounds like a convertible problem....the hardtops and clubmans were still being pumped out.

The Oxford MINI plant was shut down for the first two weeks in August, so perhaps they are just producing the remaining orders for hardtops and Clubmans before starting 2010 production in a week or so?

I know that with me, I walked into the dealer 3 weeks ago and talked about ordering a car. They told me to order by that Tuesday because after that they were going to most likely use their remaining chaises and order 2009 the way they wanted and sell them on the lot. I guess they decided to hold off because of the plant shutdown and I came back two weeks later and ordered the car I wanted. My dealership only had like 4 2009 MC chaises left, so maybe yours was out of Convertible ones?

Just checked with AskMini and from the automated line (the customer service tracking line was down) and was told that my estimated completion date is August 26th.

Go ahead and use the format. You can use the picture too. I stole that off the internet.

I used blue lettering because the color of the car is Laser Blue.

Hmmm.... So, if I have an estimated completion date of 8/29, and assuming my port of entry is Charleston (is there a VDP in Galveston?) or even if it IS Galveston, I seem too late to catch the 9/1 departing ship, so likely to be trying to get on the 9/8 arriving in Charleston on 9/19? How soon do these ships' manifests fill up?

There is a ship leaving four days later, but with the different route, arrives in Charleston 6 days later, almost a month after my completion date, on 9/25. :(

Still waiting on my MA to tell me what Port I'll be. I don't know if he works Mondays.

UAL: I didn't get the reasoning of your sig colors until you said... But I did like the way it created separation without excessive space/punctuation. I changed the color of my color. Thanks!

You know... I didn't think a month ago I'd be buying a car and pondering ships' manifests.

I agree. I am an old man - retired five years now and acting like a kid buying his first car. Maybe there is something to all this mystique about the MINI after all!

According to this thread, there is a VDC in Brunswick, GA (Port Loc = SSIPOA)

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-updated.html

From the looks of things, your car should be on the Faust leaving Southampton on 9/8 and arriving at Brunswick on 9/21. I don't think your car will make it on the Elektra on 9/1 based on this statement...

Closed for cargo delivery/release on: All cargo must be received 4 working days prior to the vessel closing.
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/customer...thern%20Europe

Looking at ship's manifests and schedules is part of the fun of waiting for your new baby to arrive.

R55|4|M from the week 31 support group made a great write-up on how to track your Mini onto the ship.

"I became an expert on tracking my MINI over the last two weeks and have had quite a bit of fun doing so. I will give you the link below that you can use to see if you made it onto the ship, just don't connect to the site using Safari, because it won't work.

http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp

Next, select Track & Trace under the Customer Tools drop-down. When you are on that page, type your entire VIN in the Cargo ID field and then click Track. If you don't get any results because you didn't make the ship, you can see all MINI related activity by using the wildcard character, %. While I was waiting for my car to show up, I could see if other MINIs were being loaded or discharge at any ports served by the WW shipping line by entering WMWMM%. Definitely helped to pass the time"

UAL_Kingpin's correct about there being more than two east coast ports. The obvious implication is each port has a VDC too.

Since your papers show a code word for each port location, here is the key:

-Halifax, Nova Scotia (Port Loc code = ?) : WW, ~6 days for transport
-New York City, NY (Port Loc = NYCPOA) : WW, ~8 days for transport (actually Jersey City, NJ)
-Charleston, SC (Port Loc = CHSPOA): ~15 days on WW, ~13 days on K-Line
-Brunswick, GA (Port Loc = SSIPOA): WW, ~17 days for transport
-Port Hueneme, CA (Port Loc = PHMPOA): WW, ~21 days for transport

Oh, THANK GOODNESS!

I was looking at the 24 cars or so already onboard, wondering if one was yours. I was going to post the VINs, but didn't want to violate some forum rule I wasn't aware of as a newb...

Congrats!
