Week 34 (8/17-8/23/2009) Support Group

I can hardly stand it - people are already driving their cars and Twiggy is still at least two weeks away.
The Porgy will arrive at Port Hueneme next Friday. I hope the VDC operates on Saturday to get the Priority 1 cars processed and loaded onto trucks ASAP!
Meanwhile, here is a photo of the Port Hueneme VDC... to help pass the time.

Thank you for posting those pictures of the Porgy at the Panama Canal on 9/10. My friend was very excited to see those pictures. She wants to thank you guys for taking those pictures. Since none of her friends nor family members know what kind of car she is buying, she is using those pictures in her Facebook account as teasers.

The latest Port Hueneme schedule shows Porgy is still going to arrive on Friday September 18th.
http://www.portofhueneme.org/documen...0911081707.pdf
My Wallenius Wilhelmsen contact last said the ETA was 6 am.
It looks like Porgy will unload 714 vehicles at Port Hueneme - 622 MINI's but only 11 BMW's and one Rolls Royce.

This MAY be a site that will let us track Porgy as she arrives at Port Hueneme. To see the AIS data, you must sign up for a free membership (I think you just need to click on the may of the USA to start the process).
http://shinemicro.com/Live.asp
Once you sign up, you can track ships on the Southern California Overview... it updates every 60 seconds.
http://shinemicro.com/Live.asp?regio...est%20Overview
Port Hueneme is directly east of the Channel Islands

Here is another AIS tracking site - for the Port of Los Angeles. But, Porgy may show up on their map as it comes by San Diego and Los Angeles.

On an earlier ship, Toronto, that was carrying the week 31 Mini's to Port Hueneme, it did start generating signal locations when it neared US waters. It showed up on the two tracking sites that we have been using for a while. I guess the US requires them to broadcast their location because of the dense shipping lane traffic.

Look at the track history for the Toronto. Zoom out until you can see the entire west coast of North America. As you can see, the Toronto started broadcasting a location signal as it entered US waters.

You might get right to the Beta version from this link...

This AIS site may not show the Porgy when she passes by - it doesn't show any ships in the Los Angeles Port.

I'm so excited! My Mini is on that ship too...bound for NW Mini in Fife.
Bert (already named) is 09 Cooper s, mellow yellow with a black roof and black bonnet stripes. Premium package, convenience package, cold weather package, navigation system, and alarm complete my baby. My rear will be nice and toasty this winter with my heated seats. I can't wait!!!

Hey Guys - congrats to those of you who picked up their mini's this past w/end. Have to admit that I'm a little jealous but really happy for you.
I checked the owners lounge today and saw that my current status has been updated to at the dealer.
It gives an ETA as 9/12 but I know it's not there yet as still no call from my MA but hopefully on the truck as we speak (or write as it were). So excited!

I know right! I think about just about every minute but I know my MA would call if it was there. I'm giving him until tomorrow and if I don't hear from him by then, I'll call and check.

Did you get a chance to see a picture of your ship, Porge, at the Panama Canal on 9/10? We had a viewing party here that day.

My MA isn't the best at coordination. Those internet sales people aren't the cream of the sales crop most of the time.

The Week 34 Support Group has been having a great time tracking our cars through the manufacturing process - and the agonizing period while we waited to see if our MINI made it onto the ship.
