I lost track of Faust once she hit open waters and didn't know when she'd be back in my sights.

I see the Porgy is also showing up on the Shine Micro AIS tracking site...
http://shinemicro.com/Live.asp?regio...est%20Overview
This is the map that is so "busy" with all the depths and the military disposal sites. But, the beta version is a lot cleaner, but so far Porgy is not showing up on it. So, the MarineTraffic link UAL posted earlier is probably the best place to follow her progress.

RayRatt, Y2K Falcon, ...
I made a post on the, "How to track you Mini" thread sharing the information we found during our six weeks or so of research. It would be cool if you guys can share what you have learned and add your input.

Ok... It's a sickness.
A friend is travelling, and just posted this pic 12 minutes ago...
And after seeing it, all I could do was pull up marinetraffic and decide that the ship along the right MUST be the "Concord Bridge" on it's way to Oakland... And I was annoyed that there was no posted picture.
*sigh*
Yep... Looks like Dash and my Mini will be enjoying the nightlife in NYC tomorrow, pulling the dreaded double stop there.
FAUST SLKQ Public Berth - NJ 1419 Autos 9/18/2009 07:00 9/18/2009 15:30 Wallenius Wilhelmsen 9739858456 9/16/2009 10:07 No

The number before "autos" is the berth, not auto count.

I can stop any time I want!!!!!!!
Though if you're not doing anything, and can take a digital camera across the Bay Bridge before it gets dark and snap a pic of the ship now anchored just under the shadow of the bridge so I can compare, that would be great.
...sometimes cars finish QC right as ships arrive, and then sit for 6 days.

I use to live in a highrise in the downtown area where I had a similar view to the picture you posted. I am so happy I no longer live in the congested downtown area.

Porgy is now just ten miles outside Port Hueneme and has slowed to 14 mph. Actually, she may be docking right now - the vessel positions on the MarineTraffic AIS display can be up to an hour old. But, since the ETA is still shown as 9 pm, I guess it takes a while to get the tugboats in place to thread the needle at the harbor entrance.

The Porgy is now docked. She pulled into the Port Hueneme harbor and then backed up into the east-west slip and tied up at the berth on the north side. I suspect the cars will be unloaded starting 6 am tomorrow (Friday) morning and parked in one of the lots near the big warehouse with the white roof (or west of the three oil/gasoline storage tanks).
Does anyone know how they get the cars to the VDC? It is about a mile away. Loading them onto trucks seems impractical - but I see there are railroad tracks from Port Hueneme to the VDC (but those tracks do not go to where Porgy is going to unload). I think the cars may just be driven from the port to the VDC on West Hueneme Road. I wonder how they deal with the fact the cars are not licensed?
[Update: I found a link to a guy who watched a ship load of BMWs being driven to the VDC in 2005, so I suspect that is still the way they do it.]
The link to the 2004 NAM tour of the VDC said, "The 84 employees at the Port Hueneme VDC process ~400 cars per day. The facility holds 3000 cars, with many more cars waiting down at the docks to travel the 1.3 miles to the VDC." That same tour reported, "they normally work 7AM to 4PM M-F, but work Saturdays when there is a high demand for "Priority One" vehicles (Priority One is a car that is already sold)." Seeing as how the Porgy will be unloading less than 800 cars, I doubt they will work this Saturday. That tour link also stated, "At the quickest, a Priority One car could be fully processed in two days."
