It's ok, really. It's been defying logic for awhile now. You know, if it's a case of footing the bill, it would seem even quicker and more cost effective to drop it in Charleston, run it through the VDC there, then stick it on a truck towards Colorado. Really, it's only 600 miles further from Charleston to Denver than it is Oxnard CA to Denver.

But this would be too logical and time conservative. You're probably right....they'll dump it in TX, rail or truck it to Cali....process it...then send it to Colorado on the same timeline as everyone else sailing on the Morning Caroline....essentially saving zero time and adding expense.

Sorry, I'm too analytical....

Look at it this way. You'll be getting your new Mini on time as opposed to getting it one week later had it been on the Morning Caroline.

Can't get Ray Charles' voice outta my head this morning.

Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Talkin' 'bout Georgia
I'm in Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Georgia, sweet Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back
It always leads back to you
I'm in Georgia, Georgia, sweet Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind
Just an old sweet, sweet song
Keeps Georgia forever on my mind

Either Friday or Saturday. Depends on if I want to take the whole fam or not. I just feel bad pushing my kids 1hr each way though I know the eldest one would love seeing all the MINI cars (3 1/2 old). Brother-in-law offered to babysit if we go on Saturday.

Could take a train, but it's $25 for a 1hr ride on Amtrak, or in reality, robbery.

We got a bulletin from MINI yesterday saying our tracking system was going to be down this weekend, I was hoping to check the status of your car this morning but it was already down. I am guessing it has or will be put on a truck today [Saturday September 19th] and heading this way!"

I hope he is right.

P.S. The MINI Owner's Lounge still shows Twiggy is "en route to Vehicle Distribution Center." I'll call the live-desk on Monday and see if they know if she is on a truck or not.
Well now, things are looking better all the time! The MINI Owners Lounge "Review Order Detail" tab shows Twiggy has an "estimated delivery date" of 9/23/2009 - that is in just two days!!!!

The ASK MINI live desk has no information from when the cars reach the port of exit. Unfortunately, my MA is off today and tomorrow, so I will need to wait to Wednesday to see if the 9/23 is the date the dealer receives the car or if that is when I can pick it up.

My turn to get excited as I endure these last few days!

Question for all of those who have already picked up their MINIs....what additional options have the dealers been "offering" at closing? Extended warranty, vehicle protection or what nots. They always seems to pop up at closing and I'd like time to research and think about them before deciding "yay" or "nay".

Anything you could share would be appreciated.......

They offered me the extended warranty for 100,000 miles. They also offered laser etching on the windows that insurance companies like in case the car get stolen.

My MA sent me a MINI Accessory Catalog so I could decide if I wanted anything added after they receive the car. The one thing I had been considering was the chrome "retro" gas cap like seen on Cooper S models. I had overlooked that option when I placed my build order (it was a $140 option), so I thought about having the dealer install one - but, the $699 price quickly changed my mind!

Ten days ago, I received a letter from my dealer's finance manager. It explained some of the financing options and had a MINI Financial Services consumer credit application.

In addition, they explained (and quoted prices for) the various 100,000 mile extended warranty, 6-years full maintenance, 7-year weather protection, and paint protection packages - along with a LoJack theft recovery program. I am not going to get any of them.

Last Friday, my MA said he thought I could pick mine up this coming Saturday. The MINI Owners Lounge says my car will be delivered to the dealer this Wednesday - and I think your MINI will be on the same truck.

My MA is off today and tomorrow, so I contacted the sales manager at Northwest MINI this morning - he wrote back, "As of now, your car has been released to trucking. That means it has passed pre inspection and will be shipped to us soon. If I had to guess, I would say the car will be here this week. The 23rd might be premature as it is not on a truck 'on paper' right now and it is at least 2 days on the road. I will check it again later today and let you know if there are any changes."

Have you picked a name for your baby yet, MiniCrazy09?

This is getting nerve wracking!

The window etching is usually like, done at the factory. It is incredibly surprising to hear the windows aren't already etched, I mean that's like simple old-school theft deterrent stuff. My 2000 KIA has window etching for pete's sake. Dealers don't etch windows they don't have the capability to do that on site.

If true that just makes me mad. If it's a sales tactic that just makes me even more mad.

Seriously, window etching is an option? This is like a BMW product right?

I just spoke to my MA. He said that the trucks are supposed to be leaving for NW Mini on the 23rd. They should arrive by the 26th. Release date would be Wednesday or Thursday. How will I sleep knowing it's sitting at the dealership?!?!?!?!?!?!

I may drive my entire family CRAZY while waiting!
