Waiting to MINI

I thought the Porgy left at 9:05 pm - right now, she is just 3 miles out from the Southampton dock. The Porgy was originally scheduled to leave at 6:00 pm, but that was changed to 8:30 pm sometime last night or this morning. Check out this link - Porgy is one of the green markers (when I wrote this, she was at the upper left corner).

I checked it on www.marinetraffic.com/ais/
There is this feature you can show vessel track. I just went back to the site and track the time. It now says it departed T20:00. No matter, my MINI is on her way. T20:20:00:00 and counting...

In looking at the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking page, I just noticed that the vast majority of the vehicles were loaded onto the Porgy between 8:20 am and 3:30 pm - but, there were 7 cars loaded a couple minutes before 5 pm (four were MINIs). One of those four MINIs was Twiggy.
Talk about cutting it close! ![Impatient](https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/images/smilies/impatient.gif)
The Porgy was originally scheduled to depart at 6 pm - so I am very thankful that someone held the boat for my MINI.
Twiggy would have been very lonely if she had to wait another two weeks on the dock.

I contacted someone at Wallenius Wilhelmsen to be sure 2EZS8 was the correct call sign. Turns out the Porgy we are on is a brand new ship - the old Porgy was probably renamed or retired. The call letters for the new Porgy are 3EZS8.
But, that is not going to do us any good. The Porgy is so new they have not yet joined the Sailwx system, and thus the Porgy is not transmitting a weather update every six hours. And, since the Sailwx site is the only way the general public can track a ship in the open Atlantic, we are out of luck.

I found a link to a guy who watched a ship load of BMWs being driven to the VDC in 2005, so I suspect the cars may just be driven from the port to the VDC on West Hueneme Road. I wonder how they deal with the fact the cars are not licensed?
Another link to a 2004 BMW/MINI Club tour of the Port Hueneme VDC said, "The 84 employees at the Port Hueneme VDC process ~400 cars per day. The facility holds 3000 cars, with many more cars waiting down at the docks to travel the 1.3 miles to the VDC." That same tour reported, "they normally work 7AM to 4PM M-F, but work Saturdays when there is a high demand for "Priority One" vehicles (Priority One is a car that is already sold)." Seeing as how the Porgy unloaded less than 800 cars, I doubt they will work this Saturday. That tour link also stated, "At the quickest, a Priority One car could be fully processed in two days."

According to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking site, Twiggy was discharged from the Porgy at 3:26 pm today (and delivered to the VDC at 3:30). And, it looks like all the cars unloaded have those same timestamps.
Hopefully, all five of us Week 34 west coast folks (JcMini, NorCalTinkerbell, MiniCrazy09, UAL_Kingpin, and me) will check the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking site and verify their MINI was unloaded at Port Hueneme today. Just enter your VIN in the "Cargo ID" box at the right of this page... don't forget this site will not work with Safari:

Please let UAL_Kingpin know your confirmed status on the Week 34 thread...

I tried calling the number listed for the VDC but got no answer - they probably have call screening and could tell it was just another MINI fanatic calling.
I just wanted to know if they were going to process Priority One cars tomorrow.
