Week 36 (8/31-9/6/2009) Support Group

I think it's due to leave in an hour per this schedule:
http://www.ais-live.co.uk/Solent%20S...ementsabp.html
Scheduled departure on that page is 28/08/2009 20:30 (originally, it was earlier). I'm pretty sure local time is 19:30.
I was asking how you knew you were the last Cabrio of 2009. I'm an '09 still being painted, completed tomorrow for the boat on 9/1.

I think it depended on what you wanted and whether there was something currently assigned to a production slot that could be easily customized to what you wanted.
For example, I went in with the intention of ordering an '09 JCW well before the end of July, on the 24th, but the '09 MCS slots that were left in the production queue could not be shifted over to a JCW at that time, so I had to order a '10. However, had I wanted a Chili Red S Cabrio with Punched Leather, Hi Fi Stereo, and Convenience Package, my MA could have easily converted one of the existing S "slots" to be the color and package that I wanted. At that point any other option (color, packages, etc.) on a scheduled chassis could be changed, but additional '09 JCW models could not be requested.
Thus, if there was a "slot" reasonably similar to what Y2K wanted already set up in the production queue, his/her MA could have likely customized it well after 7/31, still granting a custom '09 late in the game. (After all, as we well know, some of those '09s were still being painted and built this week). I think this would especially be true if the customizations that the buyer wants are things that may not even be set up in the factory, such as bonnet stripes or dealership addons. The buyer still gets a "custom" car, but without having to largely retool something that was already set for production.
From that, let's say that there's a Pepper White '09 MCHT currently loaded on the Undine with every option on it that I want, except that I want black bonnet stripes. I walk into the dealership, place my order, and my MA looks on the computer and says "Hey, we can do that!" Essentially all it takes is him assigning my name to that car on the Undine, requesting that black bonnet stripes be put on it at the VDC, and voila -- I got a custom '09 as late as 8-28.

Back to the HK radio issue. Spoke to my MA's manager today...He is still trying to get ahold of the "Rep" to get a straight answer. His thoughts are still that they are going to build the car as ordered, with an HK radio.
The cars not already "sold" will not get any of the limited HK radio's.
I almost drove to the dealer today just to look at them some more....I'm becoming impatient.

But I sure would be excited to see the car show up with the H/K, just don't have my hopes up anymore.

Wow, that is GREAT news, 10!
The H/K situation is interesting. Currently my OL page doesn't show anything in the factory options. In fact, my OL shows my car as a MCS, rather than a JCW, though I confirmed with ASK-MINI and my MA that the car is correctly set up in the system to be a JCW.
Sounds like we all might just have a pleasant surprise to look forward to, whether it's the H/K stereo or a lower sticker price.

Araamir, you can also always call 866-ASK-MINI just to confirm that everything's showing up correctly just to ease your mind.

My car is "held up" in production because of th HK radio code.
NO car built except for 2010 R56 Camdens will have the HK radio. All others will have the base radio.
Someone please tell me there is a way to upgrade this radio aftermarket.
I do not want to pull my order and wait till mid Dec for it to go into production. End of Jan or early Feb delivery for a car originally order 7/25...Ouch.
Help.....someone.

I'm out. I'm cancelling the order. I've decided I've waited since 2004 to be in a position to buy this car, I'm not settling for anything but exactly what I want. At first I thought it was silly to squabble over a radio, but dang it, I've worked hard for this car.
So, I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to cancel my order...say good by to having my MINI in 2009. I'll reorder for a Dec build with the HK.
I just don't understand the logic. Let's stop producing 09's...oooops we don't have the stuff to make a 2010. No worries.

I ordered my '09 Mini on August 1st - it was completed on August 27th and sailed on the 28th. The factory was shut down for the first two weeks in August (weeks 32 and 33).
