first time working on mini
Hello, I have a 05 mini that i just love, but both door will not open from the inside. I live in texas and it got really hot this summer is there any way it could have melted something in my doors? I thought I might take the door apart myself and check out that cable. How hard is it to take the door apart? husband is in Iraq...so I have to learn to do these things myself. I also read about a way to reset the locks...does that work? would love any help I can get.
thanks, tess

Doubt anything melted. And doubt both door cables would crap out same time, so it sounds more electical/electronic. If they work off the key fob and from outside the car, the cables are fine so dont take your doors apart.
Our locks can be configured to do all sorts of stuff, includind locking all doors upon driving from first start up, unlocking all locks upon turning off the engine...and if the doors - lock and unlock - work properly when using your key fob that probably means your door's actuators are AOK too. ( They are about $200.00 ea.) And again, the odds of both acuators crapping out at the same time is unlikely.
That said it sounds like your locks need to be re-configured by the MINI dealer.....They recently "Re-Configured" ( Re-Programmed) mine for about 40 dollars.....Sounds like that is more like the culprit in your case which is thankfully, a cheap fix.

first I have to say I love the names of your cars. Emma was the name of my GPS when we were stationed in Germany...She had a wonderful British accent. The doors open from the outside and with key fob. They just won't open from the inside. It's funny they both went out at the same time...I thought it was the Texas heat...LOL! This is my first summer in the texas heat. It could be worse, the hubby is in Iraq
. thanks for the quick reply.
