Just bought my first mini! ('02)
Hey everyone, I just bought my first MC, base model '02. It's black with white roof and white side mirrors. 77k miles. 5 speed, of course I'll post pics when I can.
Few questions.
It has a clean title, good car fax (no reported errors, lemons, wrecks, etc). It has been well maintaned. However, there is some slight rust on the muffler/tailpipe but it's only on the outside, it's still solid. The car makes no weird noises, everything works, drives great.
I was reading some horror stories about the earlier models 02-05 - clutch and transmission problems, ecu probs, etc. Should I reconsider my purchase or do you think I should be fine? I'm assuming those problems didn't plague every single cooper manufactured but it's a chance. It comes with a 4 yr/48k mile warranty. however, it only covers 50% of labor and 50% parts.
Just any insight, advice would be appreciated. thanks!

Welcome to NAM, and to the world of MINIs. Any plans for mods? It is a slippery slope.
Odds are very good that nothing will happen. If it had any faulty parts, they would have long ago been replaced under the original warranty. Remember that most people don't come to the forum to say that nothing is wrong with their car.
