Sorry, posted this before finishing message- hatch won't open- even tried pulling release under seat - when I activate button on key I can hear things happening but it will not unlatch - also when I go to lift hatch I hear a noise like it wants to open but it does not release .

I live very far from dealer and do not like going there anyway - any ideas as to what might be the issue- Is this something I can fix or have local mechanic fix? Thx

 

Did you try physically pushing up on the hatch while you had the rear release pulled? And are the doors unlocked?

 

yes- tried that- it is like the latch is stuck on the strike- not sure I have the terms right there but maybe you follow

 

oops missed your post... u already did that.

If the doors are unlocked and it won't open from using the grip switch, then it probaly needs replaced. The dealer will have to order and have the new grip switch painted, unless you want a chrome one, then its just a couple of screws and connector.
