dealer orderd wrong !!
my 2009 mcs has just arrived after 6 weeks they have just informed me that the roof is red instead of the white that i ordered.....what should i do ? they said they would paint it white , should i let them go ahead .......would it be the same as the origanal white ?? the boss ( the wife ) has called them to say that it is not what we orderd so we don't want it....thinking that maybe they can give us different options i.e they will paint it and also give us money off ???........i would hate to wait another 6 weeks( being a male ) or should i stand firm and say that we do not want it painted and re-order and get a 2010.............ooooooooooooohhh what to do any comments will help in any way good or bad cheers

Don't paint it. Not only will that lower the resale value, it won't look as good as the factory. Especially if you have the sunroof option, as they likely won't remove the whole assembly to paint it, they will just paint around it.
It's a lousy situation, but if you can't live with the red roof, then don't accept it.
One option that MIGHT work, is if you like the checkerboard pattern. You could put white checkerboards on your roof and get a red/white checkerboard and that can look cool.
Some people might suggest a vinyl wrap, but that will never look as good or as clean as one that has been painted. Only do it if you cannot live with the red but don't want to part with the current MINI.

Considering that the roof (being the upper most surface) will get abused a lot over time, white vinyl stains easily and isn't easily fixable. The only solution is replacement. Overtime, your white vinyl will need to be redone, probably in a couple of years, depending on how well you maintain it. Figure in the cost of removal for deteriorated vinyl as well. Maybe in that time, you'll like the red roof better, lol.

Gee Whiz - Mini's web site is constantly telling everyone that there are billions of choices so there is no need to settle for a mini that isn't exactly what you want! Now your dealer screws up and suddenly they want you to accept something that you didn't want! I don't think Mini would look too nicely on that dealer.
You have to live with that Mini so I'd make them re-order (a 2010 now) and deliver it to you at the same price as you agreed to for the '09. Also, they should provide you with a "loaner" mini while you wait.
Please keep us informed as to the final remedy.
